Custom Hanewinckel Bass Progress Pics

Compared my Hane to my Yammy a bit today. In passive mode, the output of the Big Singles is lower than the pickups in my Yammy. Of course, I can easily adjust that on the Nordy preamp. As for tone, I'd say there are certainly similarities, but I'd say the Big Singles have a bit more clarity and less pronounced Mids.

Overall, I'm really diggin' the Hane now. Can't wait to play it with my band.

I know it's been a while, but I think I finally got the Big Singles setup so that the tone is nice and balanced the way I like it. I had to adjust the Bridge pickup a bit further away from the strings than I originally thought.

Anyway, the Hane is sounding rather good these days, and I'd say it's definitely more versatile than my Yamaha 4-string, although I still love that bass. The B-string is sounding good and pretty well-balanced compared to the other strings.

Speaking of strings, I'm playing Skjolds right now. The B is tapered, and, when I adjusted the intonation, I found that the screw in the B-string bridge saddle was too short. I contacted Pete Hanewinckel, and he immediately mailed two longers screws to me. All is well now.
