My favorite era, too. I saw Genesis with Gabriel a every time they came to town (first was when they toured supporting Foxtrot, on their first US visit in April 1973
), plus without Peter up through the Wind And Wuthering tour.I have also seen Steve several times in various forms, from his band through to trios and solo gigs.
Looking at the body cut in half, it's surprising how little wood is left of the neck through beam. It might as well be a set neck with those bathtub pickup routes. On my Hossenfeffer 4001 build I'm going to keep the pickup routes as shallow as possible, no need for a lot of space under the pups for a range of adjustment I'll never use.
I believe that the bridge pickup route is 1 inch deep while the neck pickup route is a little shallower at 3/4". I imagine the area can be reinforced with carbon rods to give it more integrity. I was considering doing another Dark Star Ric build and since the Dark Star pickups are so deep with the screws , I felt I may have to have that done. The original one I have was not. Bezels were made to lift the pickup higher out of the route which actually worked out fine for the string height.
I think part of the issue is that you aren't looking at this as a whole. The body wing(s) should reinforce all that once it's glued up.
