Custom singlecut 6 str for Bobby K.

I have a gig bag now that works well.. Its one of those that holds two basses.. I put the bass on one side and my LMII and cables on the other.

I do need to get a hard case though.. I was thinking of this in tweed:

yeap, that's the one. I own one of the tweed cases which I bought for the sole purpose of storing a finished bass while the customer sends in his own case (I have small children ).

sometimes I do feel like storing my daughters in a case! But I meant to say the basses need protecting from the children in the house. Though with all the "bling" you went for in your bass I don't think a bit of glitter or a few faux gemstones would hurt

Did you have any issues with the burl breaking apart because it was so thin on the covers? Did you just soak it in glue first?

nope. no problems at all. amboyna burl is a very well behaved burl. I wouldn't say the same about redwood burl, though ...all I can say is ouch!

Ok because I tried with both redwood burl and buckeye burl without much success. Looking good, it truly is a beautiful bass you have there.

cuz flat fingerboards rule! and they seem to be easier to play on in my opinion, and they're so much easier to do

The front of the bass being so wild and the back being extremely plain Bobby and I thought it would be a good idea to give it some color to make it more interesting on the back and match better with the colors on the front. A transblack/reddish brown burst was the decision.

Very nice burst. Reminds me of a Pedulla, which is a very good thing, as Mike P. has some of the nicest bursts IMO.

In the meantime, here are some more detailed shots after a couple of clearcoats and masking removed. Unfortunately the halogen heating lamps inside the spray box are less than ideal to show the detail.

Cool gives the bass a whole different character. I didn't notice how plain the back of the bass was until pointed out. I'm not really into burst finish but with bass it is really classy and the right choice.
