Apples and oranges. Prove that this specific application does anything that the OP says it will and I'll listen. I hold a couple of technical degrees and I am no stranger to materials science, and in my opinion this is hogwash. Spend your money however you want but I'm not buying it.

It's not Apple to oranges, vibrations are vibrations regardless of the application. Also as I said before I'm not trying to prove that this specific device will do what it says but I can tell you that it could do it. It could also have the opposite effect and it could also break your bass. Again, I'm not going to buy it nor want anyone to buy it, I couldn't care less so please can we take this out of the discussion? And I'm also an Engineer, a Mechanical Engineer with 15 years in the mechanical vibration field, this is what I do for living.

I'm going to try to explain how it works and see if I can do it simple.

Fact 1: Everything in this universe vibrates, while in stationary state that vibrations has a specific value and it's called Natural Frequency.
Fact 2: Vibration can and is represented as a sinusoid wave, it has an amplitude and a frequency.
Fact 3: External vibrations can affect (exite) a body vibration level changing its amplitude and frequency, the external vibration frequency is often called Exitation Frequency.
Fact 4: Every solid body has a strength value which is the maximum level of force or pressure that you can apply to it before it breaks, there are actually several values for different types of ways you can apply a "force" to an object, you can shear it, bend it, twist it, etc.
Fact 5: vibration can be measured and analyses in amplitude of displacement, velocity, acceleration and torque. There are others but not interesting for this topic.

When you apply an external vibration to a stationary body two basic things happen:

- both vibrations add up ( both sinusoid waves add up)
- the overall vibration amplitude increases.

When the vibration amplitude increase then the forces in the body increase too, the closer that forces get to the max strength value of that material the more damage to the material and it would effectively "age" the material, if the amplitude of the vibration get over the max strength value for a long period of time it can destroy the body. Normally this is what happens when the Exitation frequency matches the natural frequency of the body and both amplitudes add up to values that are way above the resistance of the material and then a catastrophic failure happens.

So if this thingy could exite the body bass to levels close to the max level allowable it would age the wood. Would that make the bass sound better? I don't know. Did the do any studies about this? I don't think so, could this also damage your bass? Absolutely.

That is right there in character with the rest of what you have posted. Believe what you want but the Monster Cable Snake Oil is world class.

Fair enough. Prove it to me and I'll change my tune. Show me the numbers.
 
Again, I'm not saying that this thing does what the OP says it does. But it could do it. There are machines that work on that principle, that is how they test your house foundations, building columns and beams, your car shafts, airplanes fuselage, etc... And now I'm out, have a steak to grill and a gig to get ready for.

If you were to look at everything I have written on the subject (not that I would encourage you to do that) you would see that nowhere did I state unequivocally that this could not have any effect. But saying something could happen is not the same as saying it would happen. I cannot, for example, say that it is not possible for me to walk out my front door and be struck by a falling meteor. I can say that my opinion is that it won't ever happen, which is what I have been saying all along about this device. It is my opinion that this gizmo does absolutely nothing for (or to) the sound or playability of a solid body bass guitar. That is my opinion, based on my experience as an engineer (for going on 30 years, but who's counting), as a musician (for a lot longer than that), and as a rational (and yes, skeptical) person. Added to that is my assessment of the credibility of the evidence presented by the OP, which is zero.

Since you're still active in your thread, I'll repost my test from a few weeks ago that you ignored:



The tonal difference was tremendous enough that you should have no problems hearing the edits.

I could magnify and zoom the waveforms in my Cubase and easily tell exactly which note is which. Like DNA. I already can see the reactions calling me a liar and cheater just because it's possible...that's why I skipped this one...didn't mean to ignore or offend you...sorry if I did ;)

You shouldn't need Cubase if the differences are anywhere near as noticeable as you claim they are. Just use your ear and tell us.

They're already calling you those things so what's to lose?

and correct me if I am wrong but aren't these test done to see when the part in question fails ? The reason vintage instruments sound diffrent ,not necessarily better, is they where manufactered differently . They do not sound or play better because they are beginning to fail .

There is definitely (IMO) something about 50+ year old dried out wood and light nitro finishes that makes vintage basses sound and feel different than new ones, but this can't be proven scientifically. Also folks like Alleva Coppolo make basses that sound as good or better than vintage ones.

A 2015 Fender P won't sound like a 1959 no matter how much you play it or slap a vibrator on it in any case.
