CWB 11: Exactly. One Louder.

Finally got to my turn to record at the studio today. Spent 3 hours watching the guitarists record 4 tracks for a song. Then I did my track in 15 minutes. Going in Monday to do our other song, then vocals are getting done during the week... Excited to hear how it turns out!

I had a (sort of) similar experience recently.

I had thought before that rap was the one music that I couldn't understand, embrace, or accept. A recent episode at a local metal show expanded my can't listen list to include at least this brand of metal as well. I was at a club to see a friend's son play. I heard three bands play. They all sounded the same. Roaring, deep, vulgar screaming vocals from each singer. Each band had two Gibson or other humbucker style guitars through full stacks on eleven, blasting along at high speed together. A bassist playing a 5 or 6 string with heavy distortion through a big Ampeg rig (shared by all three bands), playing only root notes for the most part, really fast. And... of course a drummer playing blast beats on a double pedal as fast as he can.

It was rough.

My buddy asked me if his kid had any talent. I told him that he was well equipped for that kind of music. His son was one of the guitarists and played a black seven string Schecter.

Every guiter and bass was black, the drums that were used by all three bands were black SJCs, and of course every musician was dressed in black and almost everyone had their hair dyed... black.

It would be funny if they were not so serious about it. And they were all VERY, VERY serious.
