What kind of ABG is that you've got in your lovely foldout shoot Tat?

I'm down to three electrics but the Zon is leaving once my Fodera arrives:hyper:

Of course when my TJ6 arrives from Joe I'll most likely case everything for a year to get some quality time in with my sixer.

If I remember right, the ABG is an Ibanez....

When you get your TJ6, I'll volunteer to bass-sit the Fodera...that's just how nice I am. :D

You are only a tank away... you should baby sit the Thunderchief while you are at it :)

Although I'm so very excited to get the Emperor Standard, I've played carbon fiber necks for so long that I hope I'm not disappointed.

I'm a recovering whore, ahem, gear whore :)

After so many years of playing and horse trading gear I'm actually very content with what I have now. I shed 6 basses in the last year and tried to reassess my playing goals and break it down to my needs as a sideman and as a soloist.

I need a 6 for a good deal of the music I've written, but only a 5 for the majority of band gigs I get. A 4 string Jazz is home to me so I will always need one, and of course the 5 string fretless has been next to my 4 fretted since the beginning.

I haven't checked the classifieds in a very long time, and that leaves more time to jaw with you peeps and work on improving my playing :) Win Win

I have to stay out of the classifieds and off of CL (saw an Ibanez on there tonight that I really want...lol). I have a hard time passing up a good deal...or a pretty bass. :p

What top are you getting on your Emperor?

The Emperor Standard only comes in one configuration. It's a bi-colored flame maple. I only went for it because it was built to the specs I would have wanted but at a much lower price because there are no custom options available.

The TJ6 will be Ash body, quilt maple top, 19mm, custom electronics.

Kind of sensing a pattern: ash body, quilt or flame maple.

Gotta have your ash under a quilt for some sweet thumping sounds

They all are supposed to be like this one more or less.

Dual coils that can be run as hum buckers or the outside single coils. It promises to be a versatile bass which will suit my different band opportunities.

hmm...Bass Central says you can get a Buckeye Burl top...or am I looking at that wrong? I shouldn't be allowed on the internet after midnight...I get stupider by the minute.

I'm sig'ing this one for awhile. :p

YEEHAW I'm a sig! And not just anybody's sig, but Furry's!!!

That's a buckeye burl, but on an Emperor. The standard only comes one way. It's made in the same factory, same tools, same builders, etc. However, eliminating the customization makes it a few grand less. I'm all for that. The bonus is that it literally is exactly how I would have wanted it.

It's sexy all right. I had a Monarch a long time ago that I got through some dealings. really liked it as a solo instrument, but in a band it was lost. I was so bummed. It ended going the way of the wooly mammoth.

Ah, okay...I see now. :p See? I should be blocked past midnight...lol...:p

Midnight is my second wind.

Related to your Ibanez find... The guitar player I'm currently playing with in a trio used to run the Ibanez custom shop in Philly. He made guitars for Vai, among others, and Garry Willis' basses.
He's a super guitar player and really great guy.
