Our belgian shepherd was sick when we got back into town... he seems fine now, but we got NO sleep last night. I won't be on long, but I wanted to check in before this new thread roared through too many pages.

and a shout out to Pittsburgh... I lived in Morgantown for a year and used to come up to the Burgh quite a bit. Cool place to live for the experience, but can't stay in WV too long or weird things happen to your accent. :)

I live just outside of the Pittsburgh city limits on the south end, towards Morgantown. I've played there many times. Actually the frontman of a trio that I play hand percussion in is from Morgantown.

C3, I'm in Iowa now. Grew up in Saratoga though. Kept migrating west and finally ending up here.

Drummer, Morgantown actually has a really cool music scene. The people there were so friendly in general and very welcoming. It's just the mountains eventually have you feeling like you are part wild man after a while. That bass will snag some headlines for sure :)

I'm waiting on two myself. This summer should be full of new bass heaven.

Drummer if I recall correctly I nearly ended it all in a spill on the youkighaney river... yeah I really butchered the spelling I'm sure. Myself and a couple peeps said, sure,... we can do class 4 rapids. piece of cake. Wow that almost ended badly :)

I've done some of the rapids on the Youghiogheny myself when I was younger and tougher. Most people just call it the Yough, rhymes with "walk". (So I'd be tempted to spell it the same way that you did.)

I'm glad you made it through there.

Iowa? Cool. Have you ever considered building a baseball diamond? (Some would argue that it is saner than running class four rapids...)

I have a good friend who ran Iowa and the surrounding area for the company that I used to work for before I retired. (He regularly traveled through eleven states on buisiness.) I would fly up and work with him on occasion, I spent a decent amount of time in that part of the country and liked it.

As for your comment about Morgantown being friendly, I agree. I find that true in this whole region for the most part. I grew up in Pittsburgh, but spent most of my adult life in Florida, Maryland, DC and Virginia. When we retired we were not sure where we wanted to live. (We knew that it wasn't DC!) My friends and family just assume that I dragged Jackie here. (She was born and raised in Missouri, but spent most of her life so far in Chicago and DC.) We traveled a bit before we figured out where we wanted to land and Jackie fell in love with Pittsburgh and wanted to live here.

The people are the main reason why.
