wow ... sweet! Go for it Furry! :bassist:

Me too, but could never find the right one for the right price....until today. :)
congrats.. now IF only I knew how to play a fretless, I might get one too...LOL

Hmmm...grolsch is good, too. But I'm a Kolsch fan, first. Or Schwarzbier. Definitely Schwarzbier.
you must remember that I live in the mountains. The local store orders grolsch just for me...aside from that the "premium" beers are Pacifico, corona, St Pauli girl...and anything by sierra nevada brewery (because it is about 50 miles away from here)

Thanks! I'm excited about it. I really like the unlined neck, but I'm a little nervous about it too. :)

Does it have side dots? Most unlined fretlesses do.

Lines on a fretless do more harm than good IMO. The reason is that the lines aren't where the frets are, they're where your fingers are "supposed" to go. So it's confusing if you play basses with frets too. I have one fretless with lines and I never play it. Plus, you can see side dots from above, which is how you're looking at the bass.

Trust your fingers and ears, and use your open strings as the tuning checks. In other words, work open strings (which are always in tune) into your note choices as a check on your intonation for the non-open notes.

Remember that you can adjust on the fly. So if you hit it a little sharp or flat you can always slide into tune, and that can actually sound cool. I do it intentionally sometimes. Sliding into notes is one thing that makes a fretless a fretless.

Last but not least, remember that most of the human race can't hear the difference between a low note that's x and a low note that's x+/-1 tiny bit of pitch.

Plus, you'll be "that chick with the fretless ... "

So ... you can ride a motorcycle, lean into a curve, feel when to downshift ... but you don't think you can play a fretless? It's feel, touch and confidence in your fingers and ears. I'd liken it to driving a manual instead of an automatic.

yeah, but I am lazy about shifting...that is why my pickup has about three times as many miles on it as my vette

Side dots...good question... I don't remember... :) I'll have to check when I get it back.

I walked into a guitar show and played one probably better than a fretted. Now since I'm not all that great to start with, it's probably not saying much, but the guy selling it seemed suitably impressed, so I'm gonna take his reaction to mean that I totally rocked it. If I can do that. You can do that. (And FM is right - if you build it they will come)

I remember that you're special. You get lots of privileges. :D

when the community you live in is as small as mine, EVERYONE is special. Most of the people have been here for years, and many are third or forth generations in the area. Everyone knows your name, and watches out for you

I was sitting in the local store (in the deli area) having coffee one morning. My grandpa walked in and told me that he had locked my pickup, because someone he didn't know was looking at the rifle laying in my back seat. I was momentarily worried, because I had left my keys in the pickup. But gramps was smart enough to check for that, and handed me the keys...that is the only time my pickup has been locked here
