I'm here..sorta. We're having another practice tomorrow to work through the songs that need to be tightened up just a tad.

I am really looking forward to Saturday. We're just playing to family and friends, but still, it should be a lot of fun!

hey all ... busy week for me. Off to San Francisco on Thursday, then flying the red-eye back Friday night and changing planes at 8 a.m. to get to our youngest's college graduation. Back to NY on Monday (Memorial Day) and then things will get more back to normal, whatever that means in my case.

Next week I'll have a couple of practices, including one with some new (to me) guys looking for an upright player. They write their own jazz-rock fusion stuff. A little different from anything I'm currently doing.

Got our Vague Assurances CDs in stock and will be getting them out there. Hope to get some local radio play.

got a neat motorcycle restomod project today... a 72 triumph thunderbird
It is the later oil-in-frame chassis. The previous owner swore it was a 68 Bonneville, but triumph switched frames in 71, and Bonneville numbers are completely different. . The frame had been modified to the point where I almost thought it was an old trophy, until I looked at the numbers

engine and frame are there (minus swingarm), but not much else...so it might become just a little bobber. I know I can make money on this one.

Go for it. Any pictures? I need to finish my '67 Skylark before I leave for the Appalachian, which may end up being this week if I get things sorted out at college. I've decided to go back. Taking a 2 month hike to condition, then going to do the thru-hike in January.

I love the old british bikes. My first street bike was a 1975 Norton 850 Commando. (Because I was insane... I weighed about 100 pounds when I bought that monster.)

Ok guys I had my head inserted in my rectum. I do not know why, but I had inverted the first two numbers of the serial number. I was reading manufacture date code as EB. That would make date of manufacture may of 72... in fact the code is BE, which makes it February of 1975... still a done deal. I am building it. Since too many parts are missing for a real restoration, I am going to upgrade it to disc brakes, and maybe air ride suspension

The last full resto british bike I did was an ariel square four

OH and my first car was a '66 GTO..

My first car was an embarrassment - both to me and to cars. It was a hand-me-down '81 VW Diesel Rabbit. Sure, it got great fuel mileage, but it couldn't pass anything without a healthy dose of laxatives and a tail wind. Cold weather starting? HA! Get out and push. I hated that thing.

My favorite vehicle (also the one that my wife hated the most), was a '55 Ford F100. I had just come back from my second deployment and was looking for a truck. I had gone from dealership to dealership and couldn't find a truck that I liked. A friend of mine told me about a truck that he saw in the neighboring barracks parking lot so I ran over to check it out. What I saw was a primer red '55 F100 with straight body panels and a minimalist interior. A short conversation with the owner revealed that he had converted it to 12v (with exception to the wiper motor), and he put some cheap chrome wheels on it, but the truck was otherwise original. There were two issues with it, however. The driver's door didn't like to stay latched and the wood in the bed was gone. I eventually swapped out the engine and bolted down a sheet of plywood in the bed. The door was fixed after I got a new latch. I drove that truck for 3 years, but sold it after it caught on fire.

I had 3 70's triumphs I miss them. But they were a bitch to start if they got wet. Good luck with the project.

First car was a bit embarrassing. A '62 olds f-85 the second was a convertible '69 SS 396 Chevelle so quite a change. My favorite was a '91 MR-2 Turbo. I had it hopped up a bit and shocked several motor heads with it. My wife and I both miss it.

First car was nothing special. Got an 1985 Ford Escort before my senior year of college, needed it for a job I had that summer and continued working while I was finishing my senior year. At least it had the High Output, 1.6L, 68 horsepower engine. Otherwise it would have been a REAL dog. LOL

I've actually only owned two cars since that one (traded it in 1991). I may be trading my car in real soon for a new one, possbily before the end of this month, though. It's 12 years old and my wife is pushing me to trade it in because the longer I keep it the longer she'll have to keep her 8 year old car. She's already looking at another four years minimum to give us time to pay off my new one. So now that we've done all the work in the house that we're going to do this year, I guess it's time to do it. :(

Top this one, my first car was a rusted out 74 Gremlin!

DT, at one time I had an 84 Jetta Diesel. Pretty much the same issues. On really cold days I'd have to go out at lunch and run it for a while to ensure it would start at the end of the day.
