The gig at the Hard Rock last night was everything that we hoped that it would be. I only have one photo so far...

Awesomeness Mike! What a great night that must have been. And not surprised you were up late. Hard to come down after a high like that.

Hey kids, don't want to rush things along here either but we're heading into the home stretch towards post 20,000 in the CWB series. Really this has rather become a semi-private internet forum for a small group of posters and maybe a bunch more lurkers.

Anyway, it is also almost Christmas and everyone is going to be busy so I was going to suggest that it's time to put on thinking caps and start throwing some names for the next edition of CWB.

But remember, back then you could buy a brand new Volkswagen "Beetle" for $1900.00. 16oz soda for a dime. Carton of Camels for $1.90

Camel no filters. Yup. Thank Odin I stopped smoking those and k00ls. The Beetle is now stripped 19k and fully loaded 28-30. So between a 100 and 150%. Smokes aren't a good indicator as the taxes have risen so much. So that 67 is 670 to 1000 in todays world. Which I why I couldn't afford the Hagstrom.

I just responded to two ads on CL that are looking for bassists. They are both metal bands that do originals and one claims to be LOUD LOUD LOUD. I think I need professional help..

Try bandmix.com You might find a guitarist who day job is psychotherapy (I know one around here actually) and save yourself some money.

I just listed 4 basses and an acoustic 12 string on the local CL. Doesn't mean they'll go but if they do I promise not to be sad. They build new ones every day and I am pretty hooked on my MapleGlo Ric which is not listed.

I was going to ask about the GL. What did you list it for? I was thinking about selling my black one, but then I played it and decided not to decide on that yet. It has the Seymour D Antiquity II's and it roars.

That is right where I've been for the past few years .... I have my main basses, all of which serve a specific purpose and other than those, I've ditched all the rest. The only bass I still own that really doesn't have an "everyday" purpose is the fretted 7, which is currently wall art. If the used market wasn't so soft right now I would have sold it a long time ago. For now, I'm keeping it and maybe a potential trade for a fretless 7 will crop up.

I've reached the point where basses must be giggable or I don't keep them. I have a DB, a Barker 6 string, an FBB 6 string slab, a one-off 8 string (single course), & a 30" scale semi-hollowbody, all of which are fretless. I also have a parts P bass that is fretted which I use for teaching and the FBB fretted 7. I stopped using fretted basses a couple of years back and see no need for them in the future (expect for the classes). I also have a cello, but that doesn't count towards the bass total :)

But I agree, if any bass goes out the door, no tears will be shed. I only protect the Barker, FBB 6 and DB, which are all truly my main players ....

I am down in the dept. as well. I retired my closet queen, she doesn't go out anymore, the EPI Jack Casady HB was an anniversary gift from Mrs. GoT and I like the tone in an acoustic setting. So that stays. The tricked out LPB Geddy stays. The Ibby Roadster stays. The Benevente fretted 5 I am on the fence about, It's my only 5. I still have my Burns Bison, if I sell that Burns may take me off their players page. Not that I endorse or get anything, but getting my pic on a page with Elvis, Brain May and Steve Howe just kills me.

I sold the the Bene Fretless 5, unlike you guys I never bonded with FL, and I hated to see these go but they went to very special friends - the Danelectro Hodad 4 and Lakland Skyline HB 4 - Arctic Silver.

That leaves the black Geddy as extra right now. Also, I got t get rid of the Rig of Doom. SWR 4x10 and SWR SM-900, the right amp for metal. ;)

We had people over the house until after three... is it possible to coffee in IV form?

Yes, I have learned the secret.

Very cool, Chuck! I find there is so much less neck dive w/o the frets...:hiding:

What kind of dots sound better on the fretless?

The MusicMan is free to go. The JetGlo Ric I can also part with easily. My Aerodyne P/J is absolutely gorgeous to look at but I just don't play it much even though it is so amazingly light. If those 3 went I'd pull the Geddy Lee J down as it was my first and I am a bit attached to it. But even then the Geddy will only go if I get a solid price for it. The other ones would serve me better right now as cash in the bank (or rather paying down some bills).

And see above...

I'd say a bunch for sure.

HIT ME!

(with a spoon...)

The Zappa reference in 'Valley Girl" was 'Gag me with a Spoon". Lol. Maybe pt 22.

CWB: Barely Legal

You can probably infer something about that suggestion, but it has a nice err... familiar... ring to it.

Any others?

Faulty math there Thor. That's 1,000 - 1,500%. (100% would be $3,800)

Offered at $825 (w/hardshell case, generic) based on what I see around here. I won't likely budge on that price. Not dying to sell that one but really do need to cut the inventory down.

I like those, and I like Tat's also.

I was just resoponding to the suggestion of Blackjack.

The word blackjack made me think of the phrase "hit me" and that phrase made me think of spoons... (and Deej) Sometimes my mind gets lost in a weird direction. lol
It wasn't a suggestion, I like all of the ones posted so far.

The best that I could come up with for a title was pretty lame, "CWB 21 Jump Street".

I'm still operating on almost no sleep, and it is showing...

I've never smoked... cigarettes at all, although I've always been surrounded by smokers.

My father smoked three packs of Pall Malls a day, my mom had a two pack a day Philip Morris habit. She switch to Marlboros in the early 70's. I remember that in the winter with the car windows up and the heater on you could barely see out the windows. ;)

My sister has smoked Marlboros since the early 70's. I'm guessing that she developed a taste for that brand from stealing them from my mom.

My middle brother was a Kools smoker for years and switched to Marlboros eventually as well.

My oldest brother (who passed away this summer) and I never smoked.

I dated smokers most of my life, my first wife had a Belair habit and Jackie smokes about two packs of American Spirits a day.

My second wife (the one who didn't bother to come to the hospital when I had a stroke) was venemently opposed to smoking. She was a real pain is the butt about it to everyone long before it was fashionable to be a pain in the butt about smoking. She was a trend setter, or maybe she was just a general pain in the butt. (Anti-smoking, pain in the butt, hmmm?)

So I've always been a non-smoker, but never anti-smoking.

I was a tobacco chewer.."dipper" if you will. In high school I chewed a little bit of skoal, but when I got into the Marines, it turned into a can every two days. I also smoked a bit, too, whenever Copenhagen was difficult to get. After I left active duty, a can would last me about a week. I quit, cold turkey, for six years..until I got wild hair up my arse and rejoined the Marines as a reservist. The second drill weekend was a long weekend..and I found myself bored out of my mind. A fellow Marine was getting himself a chew so I bummed one..I found myself dipping again for another couple years. I have since quit and it's been five years.

My mom and my brother are both smokers. They both used to be a couple packs a day..my mom tells me that she's down to a pack every couple days, while my brother is at a pack a day.

The unfiltered Camel would cure you for a half hour to an hour. Likewise, people rarely bummed a second one. The k00ls I lit one after another. Started at 16. Quit for almost a year my junior year in college but the stress of a very very intense university course load got me around finals. in 1973. Quit in 1982 cold turkey for good. One of the best things I ever did for my personal health. I can't tell you how lucky I was to make that decision and follow through on it. Even when cigars got popular again, I stuck to my guns and never touched any in any form.

I don't lecture other people what to do, but I think it detracts from a nice ladies looks (and smell :smug:) when she smokes, and even for guys it makes your clothes and hair stink (whether you are good looking or ugly, lol).

I can recall coming back from bars before they banned smoking here, and leaving ALL my clothes in the mud room and getting directly in the shower. Then I would windex my bass and febreeze the case.

Ok, sorry for the hijack. But you get the picture.

Speaking of pictures...
