Holy crap. Looks like we all took a left turn into personal hell this year. My year was one of the most difficult I have faced, but I muddled through. I am hoping 2013 will be a bit better for all of us. Without the music, and the support of my bass playing babes and brothers I would be in a very dark place indeed. So my thanks as well for the support and friendship.
In other less depressing news one of my old drummers invited me back for a second jam last night with a guy from Central Mass whose band imploded, homeless guitar plyer on horse, bassist was... umm... doing the same thing Bob Weston was doing to Mick Fleetwoods wife, so all three split and he is the sole trustee of the collapsed band. At the same time he is divorcing his wife, or vice versa, I didn't get into it too far. And he's ex AA. So I show up and RoneeDee, the guitarist I separated from is there too. I have no problem with him though.
Anyway, Big D, the single band member says he has cancelled 12 gigs for 2013 so far, and he's apparently eyeing us as a replacement rhythm section. The gigs are a pretty far hike for me and I don't bite on the concept.
At the same time, the drummer had bought a big bottle of B and B and Big D is pounding the stuff down. By the second hour he was as well done as saviche in lime juice. And, his performance and discipline went right down the toilet. Pretty sad really. He had a friend with him that wanted to leave at 10:30 and Big D kept saying 'one more'. My friend Roneedee had left to see Robby Krieger of the Doors paly at the Met Cafe locally after our first set.
I packed up, and then came back and worked on my singing. Then finally, I did everyone a favor and shut off the guys amp. I insisted his friend drive home as Big D was trashed.
Actually, I am glad I saw all that, because I don't need any more dysfunctional band drama in my life. I like the guy and he is a good frontman and rhythm guitarist when he is sober, but I won't do a stage gig with him unless he commits to shape up. Just too embarrassing.
Tonight is a repeat of last weeks super jam, with a drummer hopefully, though I haven't heard from him yet. Something to look forward to anyway.
