I think there is only one I'd be willing to trade or sell, and even that is hard because I LOVE the way it sounds, but it's a fiver, and I think I prefer four.

FM - Great find on the Gio! Love the cheap find. Love the color! I am constantly checking Craigslist for the unloved basses.

In fact, I picked up a $20 POS bass from CL. It was a Silvertone bass (from Walmart I think). The thing had good bones, neck straight, nut intact, good vibe to it. But it looked like it had been used to roll funny cigs on it. Residue on bridge, just not loved and cared for. I told Mrs Wacko that I wanted it to take it apart to see how a bass worked. But then I played it. Even beat up something resonated in my soul. She saw the look in my eyes and knew I had a project. "It better not cost over 100.00 to fix that POS" was my warning from SWMBO. I took everything off, salvaged what I could (bridge, tuners) , found that a pot was bad, and a pickup was about to fall apart. I found a loaded pickguard from a MIM Fender P on fleabay ($40.00) New pup covers (4.00) and a set of roto 77 flats (28.00). I sanded her down, and was just going to rattlecan her, but I wanted to ask a friend of mine who painted cars on the side for some advice. He convinced me to have him paint it with some leftover candy red paint he had. The one caveat was that he had to wait until his 2 cars and one motorcycle project was complete. I said fine. That was in June. I got the neck back today and will get the body tomorrow!!!!!! Add $20.00 for paint (Cheap for his time) and I am at $112.00 including the initial cost for the bass. As it is not a frankenbass, I decided to re-brand it in my own way. I am going to have a local sign ship make me a transfer with a logo and the name "Poseidon" which has a special meaning for me because of my Dad that I will post some other time. But that is down the road because I am over budget :D:bassist:. I showed the Mrs the neck (we work for the same company) and she asked me if I was going to sell it when put back together. :bawl:

I explained that with the time and process involved, plus the brand the bass was, it isn't worth what I have put into it monetarily, but it is worth much more to me emotionally. She understood, but then asked what am I going to do with three basses. Play them was my response. I will post later before pics and a pic with the headstock painted so you guys can see the color.

I've kinda lost track here having played three gigs plus a couple of practices in the last couple of weeks. All good. Nice to be in demand. Now I'm about to do some traveling to a faraway land (Albania, believe it or not) to do some teaching over there. I will try to take a pic of a giant spoon over there, if they have any. :bassist:

p.s. I see I owe people a couple of T-shirts. I will have to get back up to speed here.
