That's a very good point. However, in being the open and accepting group that we are and would want to continue being, I don't think we'd want to be so explicit that we rule out spectacular boobage that comes through unconventional means. For example, I could totally appreciate being flashed by (I'm not sure I know the right terminology here, so I'm going for it and I hope that one of our guys who prefer to be girls will correct me) a really well-made breast plate. I've seen the boobage some of those girls get and it makes me so jealous - kinda like TBird's legs. Speaking of TBird, I haven't seen him around lately. Hope he's doing okay.

Okay - back on track - I thought about another game this morning while I was out walking the dog, too. We should totally and completely do a Bassistopoly (I have to call it that since Bassopoly is taken and dedicated to fishing).

Bassistopoly could be a play on the Monopoly concept with these translations that I've thought of so far - any new ideas, please toss them out there:

* Bank is "the Venue"
* Banker is the "Venue Booker"
* Jail - Instead of Jail, we have pay to play
* Get Out of Jail Free - An agent calls and asks to take you on
* Community Chest - good things like being called to go on the road with a famous band, recording contracts, endorsement deals, etc.
* Chance - Truck breaks down and is late to the venue, girlfriend shows up unexpectedly at a show and busts you with a groupie, wife shows up and catches you with the gf and the groupie, your old agent was found guilty of embezzling from you and the courts are able to get your money back, etc.
* The states/streets are gigs at famous venues
* Houses and hotels are replaced by short-term and long-term show contracts
* When you land on a gig where someone else has a contract, you pay their wages instead of the Venue
* Railroads are "Music Stores"
* Utilities are Custom Bass Luthiers/Custom Builds
* Every time you circle the board, you've completed a tour
* Passing go gets you paid for the tour you're completing

What do you think?

EDIT: I just read this and realized I probably have WAY TOO MUCH time to think when I'm walking the dog.

I agree....way to much thinking going on here.

Although, it reminds me of a "black monopoly" game someone gave me once. Bottom left corner was "Jail"...all the other blocks on the board were "go to jail". :scowl:

I LIKE IT!!!

So for the venues whose names get to replace teh street names...how do you pick? Do they have to still be around? Or could you name places that were cool but gone?

I nominate CBGB's in New York and the Bronco Bowl in Dallas. Both are gone But one was historic and the other was the coolest place I ever played. Ooooh! And the Fillmore! Gotta have the Fillmore! How many venue/street names do we need?

Just my thought - it should be a mix of venues. We need 22 venues, 4 music stores, three custom luthiers,.....and a whole lot of good things for the community chest and some not so good things for the chance.

Another thought....a portion of the profits from sales of the game should go into a charitable organization whose goal is to provide relief for musicians who've been through tragic circumstances. Most of the CWB family knows about the senselessness that I was far too close to a month ago. I won't get to attend it, but this coming weekend, they're holding a weekend long music festival to raise money to cover the hospital, ambulance, and funeral expenses and take some of the burden off Ralph's family.

Yah, I think there was something very bad happening in the cosmos for a lot of us bass players a month ago.
I know I was dangerously close to the edge, and you know it too.

I hope that fund-raiser is a huge success, and their burdens are lifted.
