Went from 30s to 60s in a week, spring is here. I've been getting a lot of great riding in. What have you all been up to?

It hasn't been above 60 too many times lately. Wind tends to be so harsh that I still need to wear a wind vest and arm warmers.

Fortunately today will be over 70 and minimal wind. Y'all won't see me the rest of the day.

Here are my rides. They're nothing like the fine racing machines shown so far! The first is my work bike -- it's for my daily commute, 8 miles round trip, plus trips to the store, going places with the kids, etc. I typically ride from March to December. It's an "artisanally recycled" frame made for Schwinn by Giant in the early 80's. It's one of the bikes that effectively introduced Giant to the US market. This bike rarely leaves the house without my rain gear in the basket. The summer storms can be utterly unpredictable.

Both bikes have 3 speed Sturmey archer hubs from the 1960's, totally maintenance free except for a squirt of oil now and then. Both have "tourist" handlebars, which are infinitely easier on my wrists than straight bars. My days of bending over to reach drop bars are long gone.

The second one is my first real bike, ca. 1983. It's just for having fun on weekends, or if I'm sure the weather will be nice all day. The rear drive train disintegrated last year -- a couple spokes broke, necessitating removal of the hub. Even the shop guy couldn't get it off, so I said screw it and strung up the 3-speed. It rides like a dream. I love enclosed gear hubs, though they are not for everybody.

Yeah, I noticed that too, very odd gear combo. I have no clue how that happened, although those pics might of been before I actually rode the bike. I don't think my bike as ever been that clean since.

I'm just jealous, do not own a road bike... Reconfiguring a tandem for off-dirt, though- I also rigged an old MTB for commuting. Will post pics

Dang, another week of solid rain in the forecast. My only rule about rain is that I don't go out if it's actually pouring when I open my garage door, but it was doing exactly that all last week.

Been off the bike since my mother drove my S-Works into the carport roof last month... Looking to replace it with a CAAD frameset (aluminum) since I'll be doing more commuting than racing this year anyway.

Perfect for London, my daily commute in 12km each way straight across the city of london and this thing gets me in between cars, buses and taxies with ease. Its also a folding bike so I can fold it up and store it in my appartment and in my office and ride it to the pub and take it inside with me and then home on the tube!

How did you do?

Probably just outside the top 10. They only posted placings in the money. Racing with guys in my category would have been challenging. This was just plain nuts.

I ended up getting gapped in a section of really strong cross wind. There are climbs before that section. Had the cat 3 guys not been there, I should have been able to move up and get better field position. I ended up holding last year's hour time trial pace for 2 and a half hours. My body hurts right about now.

I've got a Brompton S6L for my commuting in NYC. I really need to take a few pics of it, but it's the Raw Laquer finish.

My daily commute is a 30 mile train ride, then it's about 4 miles in Manhattan to my office. It's the perfect bike for taking on the train since it folds up so small. I'm really enjoying it!
