Got my first "car opnening door in your face" in 30 years of downtown cycling this week. Big bruise on the shoulder , no pain there but a sore left wrist.
I always check for heads in cars but that was a small lady and she didn't look in her mirror before opening the door.
My years of MTB helped me to land without more damage
Still .... ouch
Had to cancel gigs ..... :scowl:
Lesson learned : Always check that your mirror is working properly on your car.

Steel is real... Real heavy. And yeah, I have steel (r853, Waterford RS) ... But I actually ride a carbon Cervelo R3...
R-wheeling this year. My old WH7700 's are lovely but I'm going to put them on the Waterford when it gets to be sold. I'm 195 lbs. do lots of climbing, descending. Looking at

King stuff tends to be a little overpriced. I don't know what exactly I paid for my Enve/Edge wheels, but it was way less than $2700.
I have some Mavic Cosmic Carbone Ultimates, but I don't really recommend them. Very pricey and you can't really adjust or rebuild them. The only saving grace is that they replaced one of my wheels that failed out of the blue.

No experience with those, but I would probably go OP+CK, and remember more spokes = more good. Three cross is your friend as well.
I have open pros' on old XTR hubs on my new city bike. Solid traditional feeling wheels.

I got a new set last year, IRD aero cadence rims on Velocity race hubs. I got 24 spokes radial front, 28 2x rear, although at your size you might want to go 28 / 32. Anyway, it's a nice semi-aero (30mm) rim and a lightweght yet sturdy build. Can't remember the exact price but it was around $400 I think. Compared to an OP / CK build, these will be more aero, probably stronger, and definitely cheaper.
Managed to get out yesterday. Cut my ride a little short because the sky started to look funky. Starting to rebuild before the next batch of races. I'll be doing a 40km ITT followed by a 65 mile road race with 4,000 feet of climbing. There's a crit after the time trial, but I wanna at least survive the road race the next day.
Rode a demo set of the king/Open Pro setup. Very nice. Those hubs are smoooth... Even better glide than my current DA hubs. Exchanged that set for the Ksyrium SLR's. The LBS wants me to put 60 miles on 'em before I bring 'em back. With guys like this, I would be stone crazy not supporting them...
And.. All the wrenches are licensed servers. They have 3 or 4 taps in the repair counter and stools ... It's probably my fav non music oriented bar...

Can't drink on duty when you also serve at least in Oregon, so getting work done is no problemo though sometimes you have to wait a little for a refill. Classic stages on the Tele. it is the Giro at the moment. Scca class racing video on the off nights. Cool stuff! And it makes for a pretty funny scene. Ladies night too! They do a group mountain bike ride out through some close in aggressive terrain. Then they come back for beer. Given I'm happily married it's strictly a matter of esthetics for me. Drinking beer around a bunch of buff but hungry, beer drinking ladies in lycra is not a terrible experience... Were I single I wouldn't bother with e-harmony...
Haven't ridden the Mavic's yet. Probably not until Saturday am. Will post more then.
Rode the Ksyriums yesterday. Seemed slow. Seemed industrially strong none of the light sprinty feel of my old DA's. Wife is travelling for the week so I may give her DA C24's a shot. Then I'll probably order the King and Open Pro setup as I am just thinking the carbon/aluminum bond of the C24 is kinda scary for 45 mph plus descents with my 200 lb bulk on 'em... Wishing there was a good, light weight UST rim option ...
