I wouldn't worry about Shimano stuff failing really, they may lack excitement but their stuff is very well engineered. From people who have ridden road tubeless I have heard it isn't really worth the hassle.

I wouldn't worry about Shimano stuff failing really, they may lack excitement but their stuff is very well engineered. From people who have ridden road tubeless I have heard it isn't really worth the hassle.
Just got back from my 40k TT course. Wind was from an uncommon direction and made it a cross wind most of the time. Posted a personal best speed. Not quite a personal best power. My form should hopefully improve towards race day, which is good because I was getting tired of piss poor rides as of lately.
Low power + crosswind = high speed? Sounds good to me, you change up your position or something?
Normally the wind is a lot stronger and a head/tail wind. It was basically all constant pace instead of several 10 minute threshold blocks.
Anyone watching the Tour of California? It was baking hot on the coastal plain today...it must have been horrendous in the low desert!

I used to watch that stuff when it was in my cable package. I'm not payin' to watch it.
We had our first 100+ day yesterday. It was 60 on Sunday, which made it that much more pleasant. On top of that, it was extremely windy. Probably my slowest ride of the year. Nothin' like hot Gatorade.

Got "protected and served" this morning while commuting. Failure to fully stop the vehicle while facing a stop sign. 41$, which ain't too bad, but with a hefty 3 points loss on my driver license.
Good thing there wasn't any semi truck or bus in the intersection, I would have endangered it with my reckless 10 km/h.

Drivers gotta follow the rules of the road, too. I don't always come to a complete stop with 1 foot on the ground, but I'll corner if I can see that cars aren't coming, especially cops.
I'd end up in a long argument with any cop telling me I have to put one foot on the ground at a stop sign. With rare exception, I can out track-stand any traffic signal I come to, and a full stop at a stop sign is child's play. Besides, it's not a Vehicle Code requirement (in CA).
Rules mostly apply when there are witnesses.

I slowed down to notice the parked charger but I flowed with the traffic in the intersection.
Police is making a big bicycle campaign to make sure everyone riding a bike follows rules made for cars, with a driver point of view. While they were arresting me I noticed a dozen drivers doing basically what I did with their car. The officers made a sorry smile when they noticed too. The officiers told me that since its May, bike safety month, they were targeting bike. I bet they will leave us alone in June then.

I am trying to get into shape to ride RAGBRAI in late July. I did three days of last year's with a couple of buddies and this year one of them wants to try the whole ride with me. I am intending to ride in McHenry County's (Illinois) Udder Century the first Sunday of June with the same buddies. I'm not sure what their plans are but I have a choir concert that evening so I will only be able to do the metric or 75 mile loops due to time constraints.

Anyone catch Nationals yesterday? Fast Freddie takes yet another national title. I had no idea he was even in the bunch and thought Bookie was going to take it.
Finally got back to wheel testing - the weather here has sucked the last couple of weeks. At least from a riding perspective and when it's been good, I've had gigs. Anyhow, rode the C24's last night. Did my normal hill climb and descent test ride/workout.... Those suckers just fly up the hill! Felt ok coming down. Not as industrially smooth as the Ksyriums. Think I need another ride on the King/Op setup to be sure but those C24's felt pretty darned nice!
I set a personal best on my ~40km TT course. Going to be taking it really easy the next couple of days to try to preserve as much of this form as possible. Kinda afraid I'm not going to be able to top yesterday's ride for quite some time.

The domestic pros were in a good spot for that race. The UCI pros basically only had 1-2 team mates and none in the breakaway. Fast Freddie basically said he sat in the whole time.
I really love bunch sprints that end with the upset. There was a Vuelta stage a few years back where it was Cav vs. Farrar and all eyes on them. Out of the blue came Huterovich to win the stage.
Sadly, Fast Freddie is considered part of the old guard and RBR is upset that he may have been part of the doping of that era.
Freddie played the game that suited his abilities and gave him the best chance to win. That's the sprinter's game - do as little as possible until it's time to give it everything. He played it perfectly.
To perfection. Bookwalter worked pretty hard and Zirbel worked insanely hard during the race.
In the course of my wheel testing, I have found a new favorite tire! The Vittiria Open Coursa. Very nice handling and ride quality! Even better than my previous fave Conti 4k.
I went ahead and ordered the C24's. I'll instruct my estate to post a warning here should they come apart on a downhill ...
Now back to the racing topic! Hope everybody get's to clock good mileage this weekend. I'm planning on a 75 mler, longest of the season on Sunday. Got a gig 11 to 3 on Saturday whhich kinda screws the pooch for a long ride then...
