I gotta give you a +1 on this ^.

You could easily spend another $60+ just making that bike safe to ride.

This is the type of thing I would be going for if I was going to buy a bike for year-round commuting. 90's mountain bikes are well-built, the components are generally better and safer than 80's or earlier road bikes, and they are usually lighter weight.

I sent him a message. But I don't think it will work as he's at the opposite end of the city. If he can deliver it or meet halfway it would be cool. Otherwise I don't want to spend 1.5h in a city bus to get there :p

Keep looking- there are tons of disused, decent-condition bikes out there, and EVERYONE needs a few bucks. Check garage sales & Goodwill/Salvation Army-type places maybe.
And yeah, safety- or lack thereof- was foremost on my mind when I looked at the chromed-steel rims, archaic-design and likely rusty, stiff brake cables. One wet stop attempt and its hospital story time. :eek:

Looks like I'll be getting the one kai_ski linked. It's going to be hell of a ride back home but it'll be worth it. :D

I'll put slicks on it and ride the hell out of it :)

edit: I'll also swap the seat post QR for a regular bolt.

That looks like a lot better ride. You can also get non-QR hub skewers.

As a longtime commuter and curator of older bikes, my first rule of thumb is that the wheels make the bike.

The purchase of the bike was delayed due to crazy weather. My roommate will give me a ride to go pick it up later today or tommorow.

That bike must fit it a 4door yaris? Riiiiggghhht? Well... I hope so.

The seat post is very long, there's plenty inside.

The wood floors aren't that nice. They were probably nice at some point but they'd need work right now. But since I'm only renting, it's the landlord's job and not mine.
