I think I might have a few points. I haven't done well enough in other races for those points to mean much. Family and job will probably keep me in the Cat 4ever category for a while at least.
The next race weekend is probably 6-7 hours away, which adds a lot of time. Might look at it and see if I can start working on my ~10 mile TT. Was REALLY hoping to do some uphill time trials in Oregon prior to getting the bad news about my foundation.
For now, I need a break with my TT bike. I know I should have at least pulled back about a minute if it weren't so cold and rainy. The cumulative effect of cold and wet weren't something I was used to. A rain jacket and thermal tights would have helped, as well as some waterproof shoe covers. Spent about an hour after the race shivering and hearing on how I might not be so cold if I put some weight on.
Another problem I had was with my TT helmet visor. I couldn't see anything. There are usually a few flags visible from the road. I honestly couldn't tell ya if they weren't there or if I just couldn't see that far from the fogging and heavy rain. We're all pretty sure the wind direction shifted and my power meter might agree. I missed having those visual cues.
After tomorrow's road race, I'll chill a bit. It's easy to burn yourself out in this current mindset. LOL, the last 2 races I had involved being extremely close to a few riders' times. I was 2 seconds slower than a Cat 2 last summer and 3 seconds slower than my usual TT rival. It's kind of amazing how short of a gap that is on a course like this.
