And pressure wound. I wish Roto made a heavy set of their stainless steel pressure wound strings.don't forget ground-wounds and tapes, like the ones I mentioned earlier (post #309).

pressure wounds are ground-wounds, sometime also called semi-flatwounds. They both are round wounds that are rolled under pressure to make them flatter. And pressure wound. I wish Roto made a heavy set of their stainless steel pressure wound strings.

I’m having some trouble. I’m tuned down to DGCF but I’m having tuning trouble. My strings are getting higher in pitch every time I tune them. Some times lower but mostly higher. I’ve tuned DGCF before and never had this problem. Any tips? I’m using my original strings which also has never been a problem for me.
Could be this and the strings might be newer than I thought. They came with the bass. I know the neck needs to settle but I’ve never had one get half a semi tone off before the end of a 3 minute song after retuning for an hour. But this very well could be the problem and I’ve just never seen this extreme a case of it.Are you tuning the strings down to DGCF that were previously tuned to EADG? If that's the case, both the strings and the neck of the bass are trying to re-adjust to the reduced tension, which can take a few days.
My J bass is specifically set up for DGCF, so the strings on it have never been tuned any higher. No problem with tuning instability.

I stand corrected, although I remember having seen what I said, I can't remember where though.Pressurewounds are not the same as groundwound (aka half-rounds).
Pressurewounds = rollerwound = semi-rounds. A round wire is run through a precision roller to be flattened into an oval shape.

It used to be on TB that every fourth thread had to be correct from this misinformation. You probably heard a few people say it and accepted it because multiple people told you. Our human brains glaze over many corrections because it takes more effort to create a new truth than it does to ignore some information. Happens all the time to everyone.I stand corrected, although I remember having seen what I said, I can't remember where though.
Anyway it doesn't matter that much.
Nope, wasn't on TB, I'm pretty sure it was on a string package, don't think I have it anymore though. It used to be on TB that every fourth thread had to be correct from this misinformation. I wonder sometimes how humanity made it this long with that style of thinking, but I do think it makes unity in small communities much stronger. And that used to be all we had.
Glad you found what works for you!I set up my J bass for DGCF for the first time with GHS Pressurewound 44-106 in Feb 2020. Twenty months later, as these strings were showing some signs of wear, I (foolishly) was toying with the idea of going back to EADG with a set of flats (either Dunlop or Fender) for something different. Fortunately, I did come to my senses and decided not to mess with something that's been working out so well.
So, everything remains the same with my J in DGCF, except for a fresh set of the same strings.

I have Fender stainless flats on mine.
Ooo, I gotta go look now. Quick trip upstairs, had to dig out the gig bag.So, you have Fender 9050s tuned to DGCF? Which set?
Yes, Fender 9050s (.050-.100 diameters) installed Aug 2019. Is that what you mean by which set?
Yeah, I recently put those on my "waiting for neckrelief" fakenbacker. It had standard 40-100 which were way too floppy and the neck was dead straight because it didn't have enough tension on it. Now it has them for about two weeks on and the slight relief I wanted is indeed there. I haven't been a big fan of d'Addario's but these sound much like the custom Stringjoy's and Ric factory strings.A great set of strings for D standard is the D'Addario XL 160BT 50-120. When you tune them down, the tension is still between a conventional set of 40-100 and 45-105 nickel plated rounds. The slight tonal scoop that D'A XL's have helps maintain clarity on the lower tuning.
