There is a band called The Strokes

Yeah, I’m a big fan. “Juicebox” is probably my favourite song of theirs, but that whole album you posted is great. I think it was the first one, if I remember correctly.

It was just a play on words as I’m pretty sure the ‘stroke’ part is referring to guitar strokes or something sexual. I thought of the alternate meaning of the word as I was reading the thread and started laughing so I had to put it down.

When I was in SKIDMARK for 13 years, everyone wanted to know who it was named after. Anyone that did laundry hated the name. Some uptight clubs would not list our name. So, looking back, it was a bad name, seemed funny at the time.

Anyone else find it amusing that most of the band names being parodied are bands with members easily old enough to be in dad bands (or grand dad bands or everyone is dead bands)?

Uh, The Defibrulators was a band in the Oregon Willamette Valley, I think Eugene maybe, in the mid 1980s. Their oldest player at the time was in his hearly 20s, so yeah, I guess they would be in their 50s now... If they are still together, and still suck.
