Sorry...I meant extra long
Now all I gotta do is find the half wounds and flats balanced tension and i'm set.
That gets confusing I KNOW!!!
The good news about the new D'Addario XL Nickels is.............
They have a new longer winding length!
From the Back of the ball end to the start of the taper the new XL Nickels are 37.1" (Front of the ball to start of the taper is 36.825")
So these will fit a wider variety of instruments now where they older versions did not.
It is best to measure your instrument from the back of the ball end to just past the nut to figure the best winding length needed for your instrument.
SO CLOSE! They only need .125" more and they'd work on a Dingwall. Hell, even just make the B strings that much longer.. or maybe .25" just to make sure it completely crosses the nut before tapering.
Ahh, thanks. Next step is to figure out how to do the math to build a tension balanced set for fanned frets.
Wouldn't that necessitate a nut adjustment/filing?
I'd love to try the out but I won't risk altering my bass for it
What would you pair with a 130 B string?
Thanks...tried the 220 set
Guess I gotta stay unbalanced
Jason....just a quick question regarding the D'addario Nickel XL's i ordered the other day from you...you mentioned the length now has changed to 38" ...correct?
thanks Jason...for all your help!!!!
They XL nickel long gauge are now 37.1" from the back of the ball end to the taper. If you measure from the front of the ball end to the taper it is 36.825"
Thank you very much for the quick responce!!!
Also, Do Daddario make a 92 gauge?..(tension of @ 33lbs?) and a higher tension 120 gauge...@ 31-33lbs?
Thanks again!!!
