D'Addario NYXL Bass Strings

FWIW I bought a set for my GF to try out on one of her Strats. Her conclusion?

"They're ok, I guess."

I didn't really hear anything exceptional about them either. Definitely nothing to justify the premium price tag.

Just wondering : How do the super bright nickels last for you? I tried a set and killed em in 4 gigs, and I mean dead as a rubber band. I know they have had some consistency issues, maybe I got another bad set.

I'm not a sweaty player and my ph doesn't kill strings the way it does for some. I'm fortunate in that respect. I think strings last longer for me than most.
They still sound bright for me. Time will tell if they hold up like the Foderas which just won't stop. I just went and looked and I've had them(Foderas) on for a little over a year. Ridiculous!

I followed a similar link to be signed up for their new acoustic strings and was accepted into that recently so it seems like anybody who fills one out has a chance

Well shucks! I filled out the form a few minutes ago, but in light of people getting acceptance messages, I'm probably not going to even be considered, let alone picked. Ah well.

When they came out with the NYXL guitar strings, D'Addario also released the FlexSteels. I assumed they were just two different names for strings made with the same engineering principles. Either way, I'll be curious to A-B them against the FlexSteels, which I already find to be pretty damn good.

I found a Squier fretless p from gc for cheap. Once I get the strings I'll try them on that so I'll be able to review how they are on fretless.

Well....No silks. Meaty bottom/low mids, lots of sustain, and a bit of a blanket on the top end. Feel and tension/flex very similar to the Dunlop Super Brights I took off. Not as flexible as my fav Foderas. We'll see how they fare over the next couple weeks.

How was the string to string balance of them? D'Addario's don't seem to be very tonally balanced (at least XL's 45-) to my ears

To my ears (all the "YMMV") they sound very even string to string presenting the same profile in sound.

These do the tic tac thing very well. Had to bust out good vibrations. Acoustically they have a deep bright growl.
