damn bills.

I wouldn't be that harsh. People on social security are getting back far more than they paid in, do we complain that they use that money to buy music gear?

More at question here is the sanity of buying a needless item when everything is so unstable. Overdue bills are not a laughing matter, and sets a bad precedence for the future marriage.

As for work, anyone can find a job if they really want to work. It may mean a pay cut, it may mean working a shift at McDonald's or pushing shopping carts back into the local grocery store, but the work is there.

c'mon.... dont you guys remember college? getting that check at the begining of the semester was awesome..... we used to go camping for like a week! then at the end of the semester.... ABC liquor.

But you are a ding dong if you think her credit score is not going to affect you.

Can't say that I've had that luxury. :( I can't get any private loans because I'm only 21 and my parents aren't in the best financial situation. I make too much for grants, but too little to be able to afford to go to school full time at the university level. They keep raising tuition and if I choose a payment plan through the school, it's an additional $100 nonrefundable deposit on top of the insanity that is tuition. In order to combat that, I nearly max out my credit card and struggle to pay it off before I end up paying more than $100 in interest.

Forget about combined credit scores; what happens when she dumps your worthless *ss?
Besides of course the fact that she will remember the immature loser she was once hooked up with everytime she applies for credit, insurance, jobs, etc..

Grow up and act like an adult before you get in too deep.

okay since you want to take one quote out of context and jump on me let me clarify things.

First off the bills where in he name before I moved in. When I got her the electric bill was 1400 because it went unpaid.I paid it off. Now it's getting that way again.

Secondly Where not putting my name on any of he bills because if that happens and we get like where in now then we have nothing to fall back on. This way I can still put things in my name if we need to.

So go f*** yourself with a rusty pithfork and quite acting like you're the smartest kid with downsyndrome.

I think maybe you should take the "faux" from your name...

Brilliant burn...that was freakin' hilarious!!

Faux Punk, you're a mess, dude. You are borrowing money that you must pay back WITH INTEREST and after you've paid for school (what it's for)--then you immediately think the rest is "free money" to blow on your gear jones.

All the while you don't even know that the electric bill is 3 months over due?! What?! Don't you even ask about those things?! Prepare to get dumped. If she has ANY brains at all, she's going to dump you. Trust me...her parents have probably ALREADY told her to dump you. Where do you think the electricity comes from, man, the Power Fairy?

So, you'd spend gov't money (our tax dollars) to buy bass gear while your "fiance's" credit is being damaged?
To be a fiance you have to be engaged; have you even proposed yet? Did you buy her ring with school money too?

(deep breath, count to 10)

Alright listen, dude,
Student loans are for school, if you have leftovers it's for living expenses while you go to school...if you still have leftovers after that--you have to send that money BACK to the lender (and lower your debt to them). Didn't your parents tell you any of this?

Dude, you're setting yourself up for failure big time. Use your head, man. You're about to lose the apartment and the girl--and don't blame it on the roommate--you need to get your head in the game and start taking care of biz like a man.

Let me get this straight. You were about to use taxpayers' money to buy some music equipment.

Its not tax-payers money. It's from a private lender as uposed to a goernment loan.

Now if you want to talk about tax payers money ( and honestly f*** it because i'm being flamed anyway) I'm on disability, but of coarse that comes once a month and it's entirety goes straight to the rent/phone/internet/electric.

They are getting bad "again" because no one is paying attention to the bills like an adult. Sounds like your girlfriend is just as bad with money as you are. Someone needs to get their head in the game.

Not sure what your logic is with having your name to fall back on. Fall back on it when? When her name is so damaged that she can't even get a phone number put in her name? I don't get it. It's not about having some escape plan when your poor finances catch up with you. It's about dealing with stuff ON TIME so that you don't have bad finances.

It's hard to live within your means and it sucks not getting everything you want--trust me, I know. I was broke through my entire 20's. I went to college and I worked hard (3 jobs sometimes!) but I was still broke--and I got dumped alot because of it. If you take care of stuff now, and finish college with a degree that's worth something, you'll have the stuff you want a little later when you can afford it.

That's worse, bro. Private lenders have higher interst and less mercy than a gov't subsidized loan. Dude, you're putting your financial future in danger.

I'm sorry that you feel like you're getting flammed because your bros on here are kicking your butt a little. At least they care enough to stay something. I'd be worse if NO ONE responded to your thread or the response was "LOL!" and nothing more.

Do you have a job? If your disability isn't enough to keep you from working a job, you should probably get a job too.

my girl is 30 years old. Doesn't talk to her family.
Live in the country on 25 acres of land not an appartment.

Again... it's not a government loan it's a private lender.

My fiance' (yes I proposed, Yes I bought her a ring with my OWN money)

Her credit is already damaged because of her mom. She and her mom share a phone bill. Her mom doesn't pay hers (her mom was actually living here and got kicked out for not paying bills).

No she doesn't talk to me about the bills. I give her my income and she handles the rest. She doens't like talking about the bills, I've had the discussion with her once and realized (much like this thread) it was a bad idea.

and finally... it's a loan. It does have to be payed back. That's to be expected. 900 dollars out of a 14000 dollar debt is a drop in the bucket. Since I'm going to be paying my loans back for quite some time (at 75 dollars a month payback after I graduate) then why not use it to the fullest?

blah why am I waisting my breathe though. people have already made up their minds (and their own facts) about this. I just thought it'd be funny and people would relate to a situation where the thought they had money and find out otherwise.

I can make 85 dollars a month before they cut my disability. I don't want to be on a tax leach my whole life that's why I'm going to college/therapy/slash taking my meds.

Well, bro. It sounds like you need to do some thinking before you marry her. Sounds like she's as bad at managing money as my sister and doesn't want to talk about it because it's confusing, scary, and embarrassing. Either you need to get involved in this or you're going to have a LIFETIME of this same broke a$$ drama. If my wife was a poor money manager, I would jump right in there and take control of it--she might freak out at first cuz she'd be confused, but she would soon realize that I was rescuing her. Then I'd look like a friggin' hero to her (and that's what women want).

and finally... it's a loan. It does have to be payed back. That's to be expected. 900 dollars out of a 14000 dollar debt is a drop in the bucket. Since I'm going to be paying my loans back for quite some time (at 75 dollars a month payback after I graduate) then why not use it to the fullest?
Well, like another poster said, "It's not the situation, it's the attitude..." Brother, you have to learn how to look at this stuff the right way. For example, if you owe $100/month on your loan and you payback $100/month MOST of that goes to the interest and you'll be paying on that loan for an eternity. If you pay $150/month back when you only owe $100/month, more will go toward the principle amount (the amount they are calculating your interst on). You'll be paying off more of the loan, paying it off faster, and causing the interest to drop. So, in your case, instead of paying $75/month you could be paying $100/month for 9 months (nearly a year!). That could really help you in the long run.
BTW, if you're credit is not good and/or you make very little money it's hard to get a loan from a private lender. If you look closely at it, you might find that your loan is gov't subsidized. I've had gov't subsidized student loans that were through private lenders. If you're talking about a straight private loan (like from a bank), dude, that's risky. They will sink your ship without mercy if you mess up on that. Banks don't play games.

blah why am I waisting my breathe though. people have already made up their minds (and their own facts) about this. I just thought it'd be funny and people would relate to a situation where the thought they had money and find out otherwise.
Nobody made up any facts. We all used the facts you provided in your posts. Maybe you should have been more detailed to begin with. Sounds like your in this trouble because you don't want to listen to good advice or wisdom. People didn't respond the way you expected. That should tell you something. Most people try to know how much money they have and not walk around blindly.
