Damnation Audio Fan/Appreciation Thread

Shout-out to the GMP! I used it at a show last night with the death metal band. It's thick, middy, and tracks extremely well. I use it medium gain. It's very harmonically rich. More than most pedals. The GMP gives me a new way of doing heavy tones with a true vintage-modern feel.

I always liked it, but could never find a concrete use for it. Having it on the same board as the MBD didn't work because I always chose MBD over it in the other band. Once I discovered that it does some things different/better than the MBD, the solution: different board different band.

My guitarist uses one through a Vox AC30. It's quite a bright pedal but sits so well in a heavy band mix.

Yeah my guitarist in Killing gods used a Vox AC30 and a Gibson double cutaway. It sounded glorious for our band. But it also led to me having a really bright tone as well. We were pretty aggressive sounding tonally. I loved it. That's one of the biggest things I miss most about our band, our collective tone.

Arrgh…definitely looks like NPD to me. That MDB-1 is really unreasonably large…I love it.

I put this board together for a new project. Its musically challenging and the guitarists use low tuned 7-8 strings which is hard to compete with but I find Jeff's circuits are the best for heavy lifting

The Stomp was an early b-day gift and I've haven't dialed in the amp/cabs yet, so I'm running everything into the ABC as my main preamp. Slamming the MBD-1 or Curmudgeon into the ABC produces some nice grindy textured tones that are colossal in the mix... After a couple years of powering through circuits I think I've finally found the best tools for the job

Dude that is one bad a$$ board!!!

Yesterday I set up a small board with my micro amp and my 212 (I usually play 2 amps-2 cabs). For smaller stuff I'd like to have a "normal" setup.

I like it pretty well. Distortion sounds beefy and I really like having two separate sides.
I still have a few questions:
- How's that tilt thing look like? Why is there a cut at the center frequency?
- What does the Bias Trim pot acutally do?
- Is there a way to adjust the low pass on the clean channel? On my fender it works great, but the Stingray likes it when the low pass is a bit lower than it is set now.

Funny thing is that in my quite dark rehearsal room I always stepped at the wrong side of the pedal because of the led :roflmao:

Haven't posted here yet.
Got an MBD-1 from my buddy @XXL a couple months ago.
It must have taken a hit during shipping, because it worked for all of 5 minutes, and then had this weird issue where the tone just dropped off, and it was all murky sounding. Thought it may have been the switch, but wasn't sure.
Reached out to Jeff, and then sent it in to him.
Turns out that one of the capacitors for the tone control was loose, and needed to be resoldered.
Jeff fixed it, free of charge, AND even sent out some swag. A DA pen and sticker.
Talk about your customer service. Helping out someone who bought your pedal second hand and standing behind your product.
Stand-up guy, IMO.

Now that the pedal is working.
Damn, what a pedal.
What can I say that everyone else hasn't already said?
This pedal provides such a solid tone, with a great amount of range.
It can do big, beefy distortion. It can do light overdrive. It can do a nice, fat, tube-y tone to warm up a SS rig.

TBH, I thought the tone would have a lot more saturation at full gain, but, even at full gain, it still provides a lot of clarity and articulation.
After spending some time with this pedal, I see the beauty, and genius, in it.
The low-passed clean channel is the real kicker, for me.
In my eyes, it makes perfect sense.
Bass distortions with clean blends have a tendency to have that infamous "box of bees" tone.
The low-passed clean channel alleviates that, by allowing the distortion channel to provide the highs, without having to compete with the unaffected highs from the clean side.
Overall, a very well thought out and designed pedal.
