In case anyone here is interested... MBD-1 about to be in the classifieds. AMAZING pedal, but i mistakenly thought i could fit one on my micro sized pedal board.

It’s much larger than I thought too. Took it out of the box, “holy crap!” was my first reaction. But I’m ok with it.

I’ve got one coming in this coming week. I had to get one too! How are you running all that dirt? On top of each other or separate loops?

I’m going to have the MBD-1, Volt Thrower, Blower Box and VT Bass. One has got to go though... going to be an interesting shootout this week.

I run them separately, different flavors of dirt. I tried a couple times running them at the same time, and I didn’t care for it at the moment. Still experimenting, so we’ll see where it takes me!

I caved and ordered one yesterday. Recently I tried to limit my dirt and was really disappointed with my EHX Green Russian reissue Muff in some situations. The Source Audio Aftershock yielded some very good results, but I'd always be tempted to go down the MIDI route and really just want a pedal that does one thing really well.

As an owner of both I can tell you either one is a fantastic dirt option. The MBD-1 also doesn't just do one thing well. I've been able to dial it in a few different ways depending on how I want my bass to sit in a track.

Blimey, it never ends (but maybe with these two there'll be a little peace and quiet for a while…mentally, not acoustically).

The MBD is the quintessential dirt box. It does many things well. I recently picked up an Orange OB1 500 and I must say the dirt at low gain is very similar. So I decided to get rid of the MBD a few months back. My ear is more drawn to fuzz these days and the bluebeard is quite satisfying.
I will probably just order another MBD down the road though.

I have to admit with both of those pedals and my old Black Big Muff I have stopped looking for dirt/drives.
When I feel like exploring I make a new preset in the Aftershock. Lately I've been experimenting with stacking the channels verses parallel processing and I swear it's an entirely new experience.
Then I go back to the MBD-1. It's the perfect counter part for getting a deep, round, full, grumbling tone.

I'm only into my second day with the MBD-1 and I'm coming up with some incredible tones. Right now I'm fixated on running my Dunwich Bass Overdriver with the switch in the no clipping diode position to lay some light upper frequency hair on top of the glorious low end bloom of MBD-1. My Fuzzrocious Heliotropic has a whole new life feeding into it as well. GI'm going to experiment with some parallel options as soon as I buy some kiind of parallel looper.

Well, colour me curious. I used the Aftershock for the more trebly, sawing sounds so far. It's still an overwhelming pedal.

I've had it for over a year and I'm still discovering new ways to build tones. Overwhelming is entirely appropriate.

It may after you spend more time with the MBD. My OD search ended 3/4 years ago when I got the MBD. A day after I got it, OD GAS pretty much died and it's pretty much been that way every since. It's the dirt tone I love and look for. Add the Bloop to the chain, it turns my whole chain in that lovely low passed goodness.

I recently started running the depth up around 11 or noon and wow what a great sound!! I love the MBD. I can't say enough great things about the MBD. It's one of if not THE best bass OD on the market today. There are def some other things that are great, but if you are looking for a natural, kinda that ampeg tube breakup OD sound, I haven't played a pedal that sounds and responds better than the MBD. hands down.

Nice, I also kind of like the fact that it's so needlessly huge. Seems appropriate judging from the demos I've seen. But it's gonna be a couple of weeks until the pedal will make it over here to Germany. And then probably another week until I've wrestled it from the cold, bureaucratic hands of customs. Oh, and then there's the seemingly endless wait for shops over here to get new stock of the SA C4.

I vaguely remember you also started toying around with the Aftershock lately. How's that working out?
