In my experience the Green Russian is a lot different from the Black. I tried out the nano green muff and while it does sound good it couldn't replicate a few of the sweet spots that I like on my Black Russian.

That being said the JHS Modded Green Muff is on my fuzz GAS list for other reasons. I'm confident it would seat my Mastotron for sure.

Not gonna lie I don't mind huge footprints myself I wish I had more space lol

I feel like this might be the route I have to seek. I can't imagine a rehoused unit being that much smaller anyway. In that case (no pun) I'd also need a 9V port drilled in.

Does anybody know any trusted modders who could pull this off? Does the main man himself accept build requests like this?

In my case, I was thinking of only using that one pedal as your dirt. Or just adding the blend that’s in the Bloop to it. That would be awesome.


Overall though, I like how the Bloop reacts to my board overall. It’s like a “makes it all better” pedal.

For me the Black Russian is the only pedal I own that I need the Bloop for.

My whole dirt signal path is frequency split, except the MBD-1 since it's first in line, so everything is effectively Blooped from my compressor to my delay.

I can't run the Russian in my signal path as is because it can't run parallel due to phase issues. If it all turns out to be too costly or inefficient I'd just run a Bloop underneath my board and call it a day.

Ideally though a modded Black Blooped Russian would be dream come true.

This was my thought when I first received my Bloop. In practice though, I found that different pedals had different phase relationships, making me wish the phase toggle was a foot switch instead. I’m settling for one at a time, for now.

This is the downfall of the pedal. Luckily I haven’t run into any issues yet but I know some who have.

Downfall sounds so severe and final, I prefer ”limitation”. I was just rehearsing to a recording and the Blooped Rat is threatening to do some damage at tomorrow’s gig. The fact that it’s not optimal to put two pedals with opposite phase in the loop, is minor IMO.

Oh man, so far it's my favorite pedal through the Bloop and probably my favorite Fuzz. If you want I'll post my settings later. There's def a sweet spot in the tone control and depth setting I think it's called? The one that clicks.

Yeah, feel free to post those settings.
I recently got 2 more fuzzes to try shoot-out style.
A Black Arts Pharaoh and a Native Audio Running Wolf.

I like this fuzz best because of its vintage Vroom factor. Good bloom when playing slow and tracks well when playing fast. First fuzz I've found that does both well. If it doesn't work for you in the Bloop(phase switch up) play it into the MBD.

So I've kind of run the gamut of doom style drives and preamps. I've recently bought a Model feT and a DA-120. I was hoping to use one of the above as an always-on into the power amp, with my various Damnation ran into them. But I don't think it's going to work out.

Nothing else has the slam factor of the Damnation pedals and anything ran after them and not transparent takes away from that imo. The Model feT and DA120 sound amazing tone-wise, with the feT inching the win. The old me or future me I'm sure could and would find a use for them, but the now me is going to stick with the Damnation pedals. The tone quest is drawing towards the end which is kind of bittersweet.

My last piece is an always-on at the end of the chain for clean, level stabilization and eq etc. I have a Hiwatt-style pre on its way. If that doesn't work out, I'll try the Messenger. And if that doesn't work out I'll try an Ictineo or stick with my Submarine. It's been a fun ride so far!
