This is only my second purchase from CME and my first from Damnation, so I don't want to point fingers at anyone. For all I know something happened while it was being shipped. It's a relatively minor issue, but one that I can't really accept in a pedal that's meant to be brand new, so I'm hoping CME will be easy to deal with

On a semi-related note, I'm A/B-ing it with my Subspace, and oh sweet satan but I love me some versatile dirt

Well, it arrived! I have no experience with the MBD-1 so can’t say if it sounds different, but after a few min of messing around I’m enjoying it. Very glad it has the 20db switch, since without that in the up position I only get a massive clean boost without distortion (guess I have one of those "weak-willed" basses!)

Only bummer is it arrived from CME with the Clean blend knob wobbly at the base, which I imagine will need a repair if it isn’t to get worse

Edit: once I kick in the 20db boost and then up the gain on my bass, I start getting an R2-D2 sort of squealing that doesn't seem like feedback as I've experienced it, anyone have an idea what that could be?

The boost adds a ton of gain to the circuit. That gain can also increase any noise in the signal. If you are getting any squealing or oscillation all you would need to do it turn the gain down til it stops. There should still be plenty of distortion on tap.

As for the wonky knob, I'm not sure what you mean but I'd be happy to fix any issues for you.

That definitely makes sense

In terms of the knob, I'm assuming that whatever's securing the knob to the face of the pedal from the inside could use some tightening. Like I said, a relatively minor issue, but one that I could see leading to other issues with use and over time. Thanks for the offer to help! I'll PM you

Take a small screwdriver and loosen the set screw on the knob to remove it. Then use a small wrench/socket/pair of pliers with masking tape around the jaws to tighten the nut on the pot. Nothing I would consider an 'issue.' Just a piece of hardware that needs to be snugged up.

The solution is probably something like that, I'll be emailing with Jeff on the particulars

I wanted to follow up my post yesterday: @father of fires is going above and beyond to take care of whatever minor issues the pedal arrived with (which really do seem to be very minor, I just don't have the technical experience to be confident that whatever I try to do won't create additional problems). And I hope that the fact that the pedal sounds absolutely amazing didn't get lost or under-emphasized, because goddamn but it sounds great. If I had to do it again I 100% would buy it again, only instead I would purchase directly from the pedal maker
