I have the 1 for my home board, the 3 for my main board and a 2 in a drawer just in case
The MBD hasn't left any board I've made since I got the 1. I can't say enough good about it and I always recommend it when people ask for OD. It's as close to perfection as you can get (much better than "good enough") in a bass OD for just about any genre IMHO.

Thanks! Yes I have noticed similar settings on other MBDs. Funny thing is this the micro version. Ive had the big box v1 on my board since 2018 only to be overtaken recently by the new version of itself.
If I had only one pedal it would be an MBD. I can tune by ear.
Early impressions of the BPD are very positive though. When you just need simply nasty dirt, the BPD does the trick.
I actually ran the BPD in low gain as my always on through an entire rehearsal. It was great. I am waiting on some new patch cables to be able to wire up the pair of BPDs for stacking, but I just tweaked knobs to use the BPD in place of my muff and Big Booty Judy to see how it handled the high gain tunes and it did well in both applications.
I have. I have owned the MBD-1 and 2 and currently have a 3. Unfortunately, I suffer terribly from option paralysis. So while I think you can't get a bad tone out of any of the MBD models, I tended to prefer the 1 and 2 as distortions to stack on top of my always on breakup (which has been a Mr. Black Bass OD for forever). All that to say, the BPD's simple three knob control set makes it easier for me to dial in. Which MBD do you prefer?
I have and love all of them. But the 3 wins for me because of the integrated boost switch.
I just swapped out my 1 and 3 and put my 1 back on my main board. Not sure if it’ll stay that way. But I do miss using the 1 on the regular.
Was playing the BPD-1 again, at low/minimum gain.
It kinda reminds me of another favorite low-gainer, the Spaceman Effects Saturn V/VI.
But this feels more natural.
Less compressed in the lows.
More even across the frequency spectrum.
I like it.

I completely agree. I just wired up my board to have the dueling BPDs in LOW/HIGH gain mode and am loving it.
There's not a lot of overlap. Both are natural sounding and responsive, but to my ears, the BPD's low gain is smoother, a little burly, and more like overdriven. Stacks well with dirt. The lower gain range is also dependent on input. For example, with the Drive at zero I have to dial back the volume on my L2K to clean it up. ..But, medium to higher gain is where the BPD does its thing imo

I really liked the Mr. B bass OD. I used that for a bit. Then I modded my Pork Loin and that took its place. Both are really good bass OD's. But then I got an MBD1 and that was it haha I never looked back. And I used to swap out OD's like every few months. I went nuts on OD's for a few years.
How ya liking the Benson boost?

So far IME, it gives you what you feed it.
I run my MBD a little on the clanky side.
The clankiest the BPD gets is with the depth full CCW.
If you run the MBD before it (set clanky), it makes whatever clank you're getting, clankier.

Thanks for that. It does make sense. We’ll see what the future holds. Sure sounds like a beast regardless. Bet it dooms hard with most basses but it seems like a P bass would kill with the BPD. A P bass isn’t my primary bass, secondary I use for D standard for a few songs, but split coils always seemed to hammer most dirt circuits just right.
The Benson definitely has a little grit and flavor to it. I tried a LOT of boosts and like that one best as a "louder with a little sompthin on it" gain stage.
I played the double BPD rig tonight in two different bands live and it is a killer 1/2 combo. What I wanted the dueling EQD Blumes to be the dueling BPDs are covering in spades. I think that board I posted could do all I want for awhile. I also can't believe the Mr. Black Bass OD isn't on there.
