What's up with the BIG? There hasn't been any small talk about it, so let's get some big talk going
I got to try it at the baltimore pedal show last weekend! it's a muff style fuzz with a boost in front, sounded extremely gnarly through the headphone amp setup they had at the show. don't remember if there was a stated release date or price unfortunately.
Speaking of the Baltimore pedal show, I did not attend, but I did avail myself of the opportunity to buy one of the special finish Bass Power Distorters that were not snapped up at the show.
What a charming little red box. It brings a lovely gank on its own, and brought my Triangle Muff to ecstatic heights.

This is tempting because the Sanford & Sonny Bluebeard is my muff of choice and I find the option for a clean boost and "EQ flexibility" intriguing (plus the BIG looks cool), but ... what are the dimensions? The announcement post on Reverb, the video posted above, and the listing of the pedal itself don't say.
I'd also welcome an explanation about the controls. Do they mimic the Bluebeard's and add a volume for the boost channel? Or do they do something different in the service of the aforementioned "EQ flexibility?" and "sculptable low-end." The marketing backstory on the BIG is great, but the utter lack of specifics is frankly frustrating. I'd like to know what I'm buying, you know? (Besides a boost, what does it do that my Bluebeard does not?) And I'd really like to know if it will fit on my board

This isn't a bluebeard so if you're looking for a bluebeard you should get a bluebeard. Controls are volume, tone, gain on the muff side and boost volume on the boost side.
As far as the marketing and look, this is an artist product so we made the thing the artist wanted. They have a nice instructions sheet that comes with the pedal. Its about 4.7"x5.7" or the size of an MBD-1 turned sideways.
Naw, I've got a Bluebeard. (That's how I know I like it haha.) I'm wondering how the BIG develops that iconic circuit. I understand that it's not 1:1 (of course you and Jeff did your own thing with it; you two aren't in the business of clones and wouldn't take on a project without creative and novel merit), but the marketing does say that the BIG is "inspired by the elusive Sanford & Sonny Bluebeard fuzz that Evan Weiss has relied on for years" and goes on to explicitly state that "BIG takes that core tone" so please forgive me if I'm reading a closer tonal relationship than you think I should

In any case, I am stoked and hoping the boost suits my needs. I always love the idea of a useful 2-in-1, especially when one of the two is similar to my favorite fuzz.

I’m curious about the boost as well. As it is, I find I have to boost into my BB clone I made, so this seems useful. What’s the boost?

Not based on anything in particular. Just two cascading FET stages.
Somehow that still sounds sexy. Looking forward to getting the BIG.

I would say that marketing is about constructing a narrative. The artist's rig was two pedals, a boost and a fuzz. Our brief was to build him something he liked as much or more. We did not build a bluebeard and I do not recall the boost he used. What we did was listen to his tone and ask some questions about how he uses his gear and built him something we are quite proud of. But...it all goes back to his love of his boosted Bluebeard and he didn't want to ignore that.Wow, that is some misleading marketing on Reverb's part. Thanks for clarifying, Jeff.
