It's not trash, but other Danos I have (and my Jerry Jones) are nicer-sounding basses, and better built, which is why I didn't mind messing around with it.
I think I'm taking delivery of a long-scale 59 DC (copper burst) tomorrow. If so, I'll try to post side-by-side pix of the short-scale 59 DC next to the long-scale
(Waiting patiently for the black & white long-scale to come back in stock....)

Not a lot shorter , they did it by moving the bridge , and the short scale has a two octave neck !
Where is the trussrod on a new DC shortscale Bass - I mean do you have to take off the neck to adjust it?

No , you can see the truss rod cover on the headstock of the newer Danos . Now the older style ones were a bit of a pain to adjust the rod , but thankfully the necks were incredibly stable and did not require seasonal adjustments like most Fender style instruments .
If there's a truss rod cover, then you'll find a truss rod nut under it.
If there's no truss rod cover, then of course there's no truss rod nut under the non-existent truss rod cover, so it would be at the neck heel.
That's the way I figure it.

Not easy finding flats for Danos. My usual TI's won't work (and I'm not making bigger holes in my machine pegs)
After some advice on the Dano FB page, I'm going to try La Bella 760FD on my new short-scale 59 DC, and if I dig 'em, then put the longer version on my long-scale 59 DC.

I like them.
I like the La Bella 760FS-S set a little more, but they're a little more money (though not as weirdly expensive as some flats), and not available in any store where I shop.

760FD are lighter gauge (42,56,65,83) than 760FSS (45,65,85,105) I use. I've never used the FD set.
No, the 760F? Series is all stainless, including presumably the FD's.
The first S might mean Standard. Yes, the second S means short-scale. D means Danelectro. There's also FL (L for light, I guess: 43,60,82,104), FH (39,56,77,96), FM (49,69,89,109). Not so are available as short-scale (-S) versions (anymore?).
But 760FD is always short-scale, even though it doesn't have an S. Short-scale sets are often labeled with a "short scale" sticker, not with, say, -S on the set number on the printed card insert.
I had this set on a '63ri short scale bass and it worked well. These days I might go with LaBella LTFs, but either should do the job.
