Which saddles would be the correct width, and line up with the already drilled holes?

I think it takes standard Telecaster-sized saddles. I figured it all out when I got mine. I bought the plate without saddles.

The specs for the saddles might be on the Jeff Senn webpage (is there one?) or ... I know they're somewhere.

But I'm pretty sure they're standard Tele saddles.

(Just poked around online...)

I think I used Kluson SW3 swivel saddles.

:rollno:

I have the Jeff Senn bridge. It was designed for 6 string guitars. What I said was I would love one that was designed for a traditional 4 string bass. Once again, we're not having the same conversation.

I discovered these this past weekend:

Got them tonight and restrung my Dano Baritone. I've previously strung it E-E with LaBella Hellcat strings. But they're discontinued and I very much like the feel of flats on bass. These play well in B. The neck/saddles need some further adjustment, and it'll probably take a few days to settle. But for the first time, I'm really happy with the strings on this thing. Now to break out the octave down pedal for 12 string bass in B standard!

Probably the appropriate place to post this. This was my Christmas gift to myself (purchase off Craigslist-- the seller ended up being a friend of a drummer who's come to our shows before, so that was fun!)

Made in Korea, sounds great. Neck looks straight, but the action could be lower. I should take it to be set up. No idea what strings are on it.

Nice!
That's the very model and colour 6 that from which I derive my online name. In the case I've been lusting after since they were discontinued and with an Elvis strap - which is cool b/c I I used my 6 to simulate the poorly-recorded upright (and famous Bill Black "click") on the 50s Elvis stuff when I was in an tribute band for 5 years (Palm muted with a pic - it does the "tic-tak" thing (of course - that's what that was) but, within a band mix, it really does dive the sense of a bloom and instant decay that a plucked upright gives.

Lucky man - you must really love you to get you such a nice gift. Make sure you thank you from the bottom of your heart.

P.S. - (In case you didn't know) - Elivs had one of these (the 50s one of course) - there's a famous picture of him in his army days - and yes, it was black.

So the Elvis strap is from the factory? That's interesting. I had no idea... just thought that the previous owner had a sense of humor.

I had a 90s reissue Silver Sparkle about 15 years ago. Recently stumbled on a good deal on one and had to grab it. View attachment 5297579

nice little setup you have there - I assume that's a MIJ VI? I don't think any of the Mex or Squier ones have been LPB. And is that the 12" under the portaflex?
You are making me VERY jealous. (Also, still craving a DC to complete my late 90s Dano bass collection (have the longhorn and the 6).

no - I just thought it was interesting that not only does it LOOK like my bass - and is in the case I wanted for it - it has a strap that goes with the only gig I managed to be able to use the 6 on regularly.
They didn't come with straps and the only strap at the time (IFIR) was a "tweed" one to match the case - I can only assume that like the case it's actually textured tolex.

But only because it was not available in pink back then.

I have a guitar in that style. How's the neck dive on the long-scale basses?

I just checked using my fretted 63RI longscale. Worn high, with the bass body pressed against the thorax, there is almost no neck dive. The pressure of the bass back against your body discourages it, and the strap crossing just under your right shoulder prevents it. The strap simply cannot slide.

Drop the bass down to nearly your belt line and yeah, neck dive. Bad neck dive.

Reach can be a worse problem. These are extremely long twenty-four fret long-scale basses. With the bass at my belt and positioned horizontally, I literally cannot reach the third fret. This is a bass that all but demands to be played at a 45 degree or higher angle if you hope to reach the nut.

I run into this playing Thunderbirds (& T-bSO's) - great looking and sounding basses but not well designed for function. First position is out there and neck-dive, but not as bad as its reputation. (other basses are much worse) I solve both issues by looping the lower strap over the front of the lower bout (pulls the bass into your body and eliminates dive) and riding the bass above the body-bevel at my right hip which brings first position into an easy to access location. Dano's don't have that convenient lower-bout protruding shape but relocating the lower strap peg up the body would help.

Thanks! That is a new Mexican made Vintera II Bass VI. 15" with the Portaflex PF50T. The Dano pairs nicely with it. Played a small restaurant the other night and had to reposition the amp because the way the place is laid out resulted in the kitchen being a bass trap. The cook couldn't handle the bass. lol.
