Thanks! That is a new Mexican made Vintera II Bass VI. 15" with the Portaflex PF50T. The Dano pairs nicely with it. Played a small restaurant the other night and had to reposition the amp because the way the place is laid out resulted in the kitchen being a bass trap. The cook couldn't handle the bass. lol.

nice.
I realized later that that was one of the new colous - still, jealous. Thought I'd buy myself one for my 50th coming up and then the couches decided to give out on us :(.

Again, very nice setup.

I’ve skimmed through a large chunk of this thread and learned some interesting things. I’m happy with everything about the stock setup of my new Longhorn except for the cheap knobs! Can anyone tell me if there are aftermarket options like knurled Jazz knobs that fit the stock shafts? I’m either going to fab some wooden ones or completely swap the pots as described in the Dirk Wacker article.

I'm interested, too. I tried some concentric knobs I found on ebay (as close as I could find for the stock pot shafts). They don't work well, even after trying to make them work with some drilling and bearings installed.

Ok, so I've decided that I don't like the finish of my Copper Burst Longhorn, and I've decided to not do something loony like painting it metal flake purple. I love the Piano Black that's currently available. So, I'm probably gonna get one of those. Anyone know if the new ones have the silly aluminum bridge unit? If so, I'm going to have to take the brass+chrome Allparts one off the Copper Burst and put the aluminum one back on before I sell it.

Oh, and if anyone wants to trade their solid color finish Longhorn for a Copper Burst one, send me a PM.

I was meaning more in general 'serious', they brought plenty of guitars to their booth. I count 22 in this photo alone.

Now I'm going to think about how I want a red longhorn, but I don't actually need another longhorn, but I'm going to think about it anyway.

Yeah, I don't really like the look of my Chinese copperburst longhorn. And it's pretty scabby looking. It looks like it was kept in a garage in a stack of rakes and shovels (though it plays fine), which is why I got it so cheap.

But I like that new red longhorn. The black ones are cool also. Or any color but scabby Chinese copperburst. But I can't really justify buying another longhorn :crying:

(My other longhorn is a nice Jerry Jones copperburst, which is my #1.)

Can anybody point me to a source for piano black paint as used on Danos? I have a U-1 body that has suffered some finish damage on the top, and I just can NOT find the exact matching shade of black from WalMart, from auto parts stores, from anywhere.

Could it be some kind of marine paint? Neptune is near the ocean...

Not the nasty anti-fouling paint that's used on the hull, but the more conventional paint that's used on the topside?

Just an idea.

Too bad this is in Santa Rosa. Just a bit too far to go look.

To my knowledge, no Dano Pro bass was ever sold by Danelectro. This is a neck swap. That's not a bad thing, if you use the right neck, or make the right modifications to the body.

I've built two myself. One was with a longhorn neck (I had to lengthen the neck pocket). For the other, I used an aftermarket 22-fret short scale neck. A Danelectro 63 short- or long-scale neck would have worked, also, but I couldn't find one.

So this is probably a long-scale 63 neck on, and probably right.

It's probably a bit neck-heavy, but some people don't mind that, I guess. Or maybe it's not.

And it's a good price, if you're interested.
