I would like to join this club... My Danelectro is a "Limo Black" MIK Longhorn Pro.

Re. sustain: Definitely shorter than my (very good) Precision and Jazz basses, but not anything that stands out in rock or blues music.
I use d'Addario EXL170S 045-100, which is the string that works best of those I have tried; stock, EBS Stainless, EBS Titanium/Nickel, DR Sunbeams.

My 63' had the Naugahyde removed by a previous owner so I used leopard print duct tape and had a tort guard made for it. One of a kind. View attachment 458579

I have to ask, yes, the bridge plate on my Longhorn is bowing because it was set up wrong. Is the All Part's replacement going to line up OK. If there is a Dan-O available, I'd rather use it.

I had a Dano longhorn bass in the late 60s early 70s. It served me well on tours and residencies alike. 60 towns in 60 days meant a lightweight bass was less of a burden than a solid plank.
Monthly residencies meant 5, 6 or 7 sets an evening and a light weight bass was a relief once again. Like a numpty, I chopped it in for a superior model and wished I hadn't. A few years ago, I got a replacement Dano Longhorn Bass. I then found a used Dano U2 then the other day, a Dano 59 12 string which I already adore. Other Dano stuff, a dozen foot pedals. The 60s Dano bass was modified in London by a small firm with a fifth string above the G string before I bought it. It is the bass I had on Olivia Newton-John's 1st worldwide hit single, If not for you.
I have other basses and guitars though.

Dano parts are available pretty readily. I've bought Longhorn necks and bridges for a U1 project. Cheap too. I leave the Steinburger at home. I leave the 66 Jazz at home. I leave the 57 AVI at home. I am Dano.

I did find a Dano Bridge for my Longhorn. I know I may be shot for asking, but has anyone used Roundwounds on their Dano Basses? I'm guessing the Rosewood bridge doesn't like them much, but I'm curious.

I used D'Adario Nickel Rounds on my red longhorn... The rosewood bridge had no problems whatsoever... Sounded great!

Should be able to use rotos without an issue. As far as bridge replacement the metal is pretty cheap and likely to bow again. I did a fix on the one I had by putting a screw in the body under the bridge after I straightened it out. The screw adds support from the downward pressure of the strings on the bridge. I posted pics last year on a Dano thread somewhere, maybe even this one. Not sure. I'm at work now. Maybe if I have a chance I'll search and repost if I can find it.

I found the post. Bottom of pg21 on this forum. My granddaughter is now the proud owner of the Longhorn. It was an easy fix for the cheap, probably zinc bridge.

Oh yeah, as far as round wounds I have used daddario shorts scale rounds and cut back a set of long scale Elixers as well as rotosounds on rosewood Dano and Jerry Jones Longhorns. I have used others but the brands have escaped my memory banks over the years.

Thanks for all the ideas. I've thought about putting something under the bridge, and may do that if the new bridge starts to sag. D'Addario rounds are in the future for my Longhorn. I'm not comfortable cutting down long scale strings.
