Double Bass Dark sounding Arco Strings

I'm with you on everything but the clarity and high end part.
They are very dark and sound smooth as dark chocolate under the bow.

I can understand if you don't get a lot of high end out of them, but you really don't think they're clear? That's too bad, on my bass it is very easy to identify my pitch within the orchestra.

Each bass is different but I've found them to be about the darkest sounding strings I've experienced. This is on the shop basses as I've not tried them on my own.
