Darkglass alpha omega ultra

figured this needed a dedicated thread. The original alpha omega has been my main dirt pedal since it came out. Having owned the b7k ultra I wasn’t particularly that excited about an A/O ultra. But Darkglass being Darkglass appears to have taken this one to another level. Congrats to Doug and everyone at Darkglass Electronics. You have earned my money yet again.

I had no interest in this pedal (due to already owning the standard AO and a great cab sim pedal) until trying it at NAMM.

Now it's almost all I use.

Thanks! You mean you can play Darkglass without a detuned Dingwall?? Heh. There was a video on YouTube with a Fender Jazz and a non distorted 7K tone that sounded good, but I can’t find it. Appreciate the feedback!
I play nu metal and hard rock stuff with the alpha omega. The A/O works great with my warwick and my Dingwall. It’s very versatile really

Yep.

This is a P bass through the Alpha·Omega

I gotcha. I was confused, originally thinking it was on the new one with the equalizer.

It would actually be even easier to cop this this with the Ultra, since the cab IR will naturally roll off some of the upper end fizz/clank and it has an even more extensive EQ section

Well mine should be arriving on Wednesday sadly I won't be in town until early next week. This will likely be my last attempt at the AO as I've owned and sold every other version. I have high hopes though and I've always loved the tone but I loved the MBD-1 more. I'm realizing now though that I prefer the MBD as a tone enhanced light OD and want that AO nastiness again.

I use my MBD-1 always-on light OD (previously had the AOm/MBD-1 duo)...really like having my AOU in front of the MBD-1! I can set the AOU very nasty, or just set lightly to take the MBD-1 dominance to another level. Imo, the eq is worth the upgrade from the AOm! Of course, ymmv...but I’m thinking this will work for ya!

Love that sound!!! What are your settings on it this time around?

Thanks man!

Most of the EQ is close to flat with a bump at 500 and a dip on the 3k and treble bands: blend on full, mod fully on the omega side with the drive at minimum.

Still using the "Punch" cab IR

Got mine & loving it!!
I'm not much of an overdrive guy but just a light sprinkling from the AOU really cuts through!!
I notice that it’s quite noisy tho (the main reason I bought it is for the pre and I play a clean sound), no hum just more of a white noise-esque hiss which, if I move the sliders, I can attenuate..
Issue is persistent without anything plugged in, various cables (1/4" and XLR: worse with cabsim engaged) but less noticeable with headphones..
I've removed digital pedals from my chain, and I know it's not my PSU (Voodoo Power 2 Plus)...
My signal chain: TC Polytune > Darklglass Super Symmetry > (Darkglass AOU here)> Wampler Ethereal > TC Ditto X2 is nice and quite without the AOU.. Any ideas?

i had a little noise too. It's pretty common with EQ pedals, so I assumed it's in the same boat.
