Darkglass Anagram Multi FX Announced

Looks amazing. I’d like to see more functional demos, show more how to use it…not Nate Navarro’s shredding (huge fan of his creative chops btw).

I’m not in the market. I have a Line6 HXFX and an Eventide H90. However, I’m interested to see how this goes for live application.
There are many great demos where you can see the real use.

In the intro video if I recall correctly they said that you can connect an expression pedal and control almost any parameter of 1 or more blocks with it. Can you use it on the pitch of the pitchshifter to simulate a whammy?

Tested. Yep you can. Does it work well? Hell no.
Note: On my Helix an QC my cheapo Valeton EP-2 works like a charm.

The Anagram seems to be very picky. It decides if it goes only 9 steps down or up instead of 12 and even after calibration it only goes up or down to 11 and with very strange position ways (sorry, don´t know how to describe in English) . From 1 to 5 in a few mm, and then nothing and then jumps from 9 to 11 in a mm.

Those are exactly my thoughts about Darkglass cabs. What IRs do you use instead?
Like @Chrishi87 I also use the Shiftline IRs. They’re very high quality and don’t have the nasal quality I couldn’t stand with Line 6’s factory IRs. Their updated Heritage 810 modem and their EBS 410 are both favorites of mine.
 
I suppose an argument could be made either way - it’s definitely bigger. Easier to route on a pedal board using 3.5mm TRS IMO, but both work well.
Nope. No argument to be made here. 5 pin din is superior in real world use. Mostly due to the sheath surround, that seats the cable in a rugged manner, without all the strain being put on the contact points, unlike the 3.5mm. The extra unused pins just strengthen the seating. There are flat mount/ flush versions that work great in tight spaces, like boards. Inconvenient for sure, but the mechanics of it are what they are.

I’m not familiar with this channel, but his summary appears to be around 3-4ms of latency in most use cases with a more noticeable penalty when the effects loop is used. I’d be curious to see some more real world tests on these numbers, but my expectation is still that the signal processing will be latent to such a small degree that you won’t be able to perceive it.

His testing method is a bit rough and several people have reported different numbers, although none of the numbers that have been reported thus far (that I know of) are high, so I don't think there's anything to worry about.

I just tested using the send/return with a wah and another drive pedal and I didn't notice any latency issues. Overall I haven't found latency to be an issue at all.

Meh. Reasonable people can disagree while both making factually accurate statements. More than happy to let you be the most correct on an Internet forum - I don't have nearly as much religion on the matter as it might seem. Personally though, I have found 5 pin DIN connectors to be completely inferior when the Real World (TM) requires the use of a 3.5mm TRS MIDI connection (and vice versa). People don't think it be like that, but it do... I use both on my board out of necessity and haven't found TRS to be lacking in any way.

I think both DIN and TRS connections should be used in a way no stress is applied to the connectors. On a pedal board that is easy. I do not understand the bad reputation of the mini TRS. Of course the bigger TRS is more rugged, but if they were crap they would not be used for headphones. They seem pretty reliable on cell phones, there is a lot off stress on the connectors in that application.

On the Anagram the TRS sockets are not secured to the chassis, so stress on the jack connectors is directly transferred to the circuit board (but that is not the fault of the 3,5 TRS). But I feel this is not a problem if it is made sure no stress is put on the connectors. By the way, the power-inlet socket also is not secured to the chassis, be careful (as usual)!

On the DG website the 'exploded view' clearly shows these connectors are not secured to the chassis. No argument : )

@D.A.R.K. is actually raising a good point on the design of a DIN connector doing a better job of inherently reducing strain, but I agree that some of the maligning of TRS is a bit overblown. FWIW, the slot on a Temple Audio pedal board gives maybe 1mm room for the sheath to fit through, but any additional housing makes it a no-go. Annoying, but not a show stopper - I route those MIDI cables on top of the board rather than under it. For the 3.5mm TRS connector, there is plenty of other pedal bodies running defense around it to keep it safe.

Those connectors do slot through the chassis, but they aren't screw-mounted like the XLR or 1/4" connectors. Also no argument from me either. :D
