Darkglass Anagram Multi FX Announced

Here's my NAMs for the DCX Bass if anyone wants to give them a go on the Anagram - my first attempt - tried to get levels and gain set up ok - but any feedback let me know. I'm yet to get my Anagram for a couple of days, so curious to see how they go!

seems to me you have moved away from using your Noble on your QC driven working/gigging board. Do you still see some value in running something like the Anagram into the Noble before FOH, or have you decided that what the Noble does is not that valuable/meaningful for live work ?

asking for a friend
The Noble is awesome and I love what it adds to the tone and playing feel/response.
With that being said, with the current 11 month waiting list and costing close to 1.7k Euro, I’d rather not damage it or risk getting it stolen during a tour. I’ve decided to keep it in the studio only or maybe take it with me for recording sessions.

I’m building a mini board for the Anagram, which will look like this but will have the Sushi Box Finally v3 instead of the DCX. I’m just waiting for the Finally to arrive.

Just fyi, I could also just travel with the Anagram on its own without any issues, but I like what the Cali76 adds and having an extra backup XLR out on the Sushibox pedal never hurts :)

I'm due to pick up my Anagram this morning... I hope it replaces the HX stomp. The stomp is great, but I'm fed up with its interface. I'm still wondering how to use IRSs. I play mainly through my Alpha Omega head and its 212. Do you all use a FRFR or equivalent as a monitor on stage and as a practice amp? I've tried RCFs, QSCs... meh, meh. If the Anagram is excellent but the output source is crap, it ruins the dream.

It’s an interesting pedal. Initially I was like “oh wow me wants.”

Now that I’ve had some time to think I’m less convinced. I have a microtubes Infiniti. So I have cabs, impulses, EQ, routing options, tuner, multiple distortions…. And Bluetooth. Lacking Bluetooth or WiFi is a swing and a miss for this thing.

Having to choose expression OR effects loop is also a miss.

So it seems the only thing I’m getting is a nice screen and the other pedals (octavers, chorus, flanger, etc). I actually use an h90 as my catch all pedal for chorus, flanger, etc. the h90 serves as a vocal effects as well and I can run Vox and bass through it at the same time parallel.

I think I’m out. I guess if you don’t have a multi effects pedal it’s nice. I’m a little surprised they didn’t add WiFi or at least Bluetooth. They push the Darkglass suite so hard but you’re only accessing it with a usb cable on this puppy when the Infiniti you can do so on an iPad.

I feel like they could have knocked this out of the park at a lower price point with better connectivity. Right now it’s a pretty special use case for those who would want this over something like a stomp or even a microtubes Infiniti.

If you want Darkglass distortion and all the goodies with Bluetooth Darkglass suite but don’t need octavers or flangers… Infiniti for half price. If you aren’t married to the Darkglass distortion but need lots of specialty effects… stomp for almost half price. There’s honestly a lot of options. The h90 is really overlooked but is a crazy amazing multi effects pedal and even that’s cheaper.

Pretty sure i've heard them mention in some videos that bluetooth is coming in a future update.

The unit as is really only scratches the surface of what I think it can do - excited to see how they can expand it in the future!
I think a concern is how much they haven’t done anything with their other pedals in terms of updates or their multi effects amp. We shall see.

I'm pretty sure they've covered being able to use an expression pedal and mono fx loop wiyh the correct splitter cable.

Am I the only to be surprised by the small number of amps available in version 1.1?
If you exclude the NAM loader, we've got only 3 amps

If I understand correctly, a NAM model captures an amp with a set of settings, so if you need to load a NAM file for each setting (gain, EQ etc.), so it's not as flexible a regular amp block where you can change all the parameters within each block. You can add a Anagram EQ on top of a NAM model, but it doesn't behave exactly like the EQ of the original amp, Is that correct?

@ lucky early owners, what do you think of the amp models available, and how does it feel to use NAM models?

Last, is "Peggy Bass" like a B15 or more like a SVT?

Thanks

Yes, that is the fundamental principle of profiling. Hence the gazillion profiles you find for profilers that have been on the market for ages like the Kemper and even the QC has a pretty hefty data base now.

If you want to tweak a virtual amp and expect it to behave like the real thing Fractal is basically your best option. Helix and QC sharing a second place.

AFAIK the NAM integration of the Anagram is the standard model and not a compressed one, so results should be identical to the VST plugin loaded with the same profile.

It'd be interesting to see how many bass amps launch with other guitar focused multifx units, 3 seems pretty standard except they also have a bunch of guitar centric ones too.

Considering the whole bassist focused spiel you'd think they'd land with more.

What they have there sounds decent and covers a pretty good range but itd be nice to see something more interesting like a TS50b, Model T or and Orange AD200B maybe that isn't on offer elsewhere.

The IR loader works for you now? Mine still does not :(

You have to update the Suite, not the unit. I started my suite and a window popped up saying "please update, IR loader "something" "

I still got a few bugs. But okay.
Sometimes the sounds changes, like settings reset themselves.
My Stomp Mode is not working, I can't assign pedals, when I do my Preset crashes and returns to it last saved moment...
But it´s okay. First days, I bet Darkglass gets many mails.

In the manual under Overview and connections/Rear View it says:

"Send (insert): A dual function ¼” jack supporting either a stereo send or a mono insert for creating an effects loop."

"Return (exp): A dual function ¼” jack supporting either a stereo return or an expression pedal input."

The Output-blocks can be placed anywhere in the chain, so I think it should be possible to create a second effects loop using one of the Outputs as the send and use the Return connector as return. I have asked on Basschat about this but have not got an answer yet.

In the deep dive video they mentioned that you could get an effect loop only from the send since it's stereo (tip ring split cable) and connect an expression pedal in the return, but I looked in the manual and can't find any info. Maybe someone can confirm this.

I love it fits on a nano with 2 pedals.

I’d probably use it standalone but have a nano setup it could just sit on. Nice to have a board on tour.

What are you gonna do for powering the 3 pedals? I know you mentioned the 3 ports on Cioks, but does that fit somewhere here?
