Darkglass Anagram Multi FX Announced

How are you guys backing up your presets? I'm just exporting them one by one in Darkglass Suite but, that's tedious.

Is it enough to just let it sync with Preset Hub when I plug it in or will I lose my presets there if I have to replace the device?
No need to back them up one by one. If they are sync'd to the cloud when connecting the device to the Suite, you're safe

What actually happens while syncing? Assuming I have a preset in 05B and it is synced. Then the preset in 05B changes completely (name and blocks). Will the former 05B remain somewhere in the suite?

Because the other day I lost a preset due to that saving bug we've been mailing about. Now I'd be concerned to loose that preset completely, when I connect the anagram to the suite.

There should be a prompt that pops up when there are 2 presets with the same name that asks you if you want to keep both copies, overwrite, or discard one

Here's a new Anagram user since Tuesday... still lots to learn, I'm halfway through reading the whole thread for the second time. Now I want to simplify my pedalboard... I think I'll keep an Xvive P58 tuner, the SushiBox UA, and the Anagram. I've been reading about power banks and today I wanted to get an Inui 20000 Am, which I read here works well with the Anagram. They didn't have the model I saw mentioned here, so I impulsively bought the one that looked similar... now I have some questions and I'm here to see if you can help me. Can I power the Anagram with the model I bought? (I'll post a picture at the end). I still don't understand anything about electricity, don't talk to me about Watts, Volts, Ohms, Amps, and stuff like that, because I'm incapable of understanding it no matter how much you explain it. My idea would be to use that power bank just for the Anagram and buy another one for the wireless pedal and the SushiBox (I'll ask this question in the SushiBox thread, to see if it can also be powered by a power bank). bank)Thank you!!!

That power bank should be fine. You probably going to have to understand just a little about how the power works for the SushiBox and the XVive. Without mentioning any electrical details, the Anagram can run directly from a USB-C cable, but those two will need adapters that convert the USB-C output from the power bank into the type of power they require (the USB port on the XVive isn't intended to powering it).

Two options would be

1. This cable - https://www.amazon.com/DSD-TECH-MagicConn-Power-Cable-9V/dp/B0C58PVTYX - plus this - https://www.amazon.com/Mr-Power-Reverse-Polarity-Converter-Keyboard/dp/B07YJKJY7C

or

2. This adapter - https://www.amazon.com/myVolts-Step-Up-Compatible-Soundblox-Envelope/dp/B0F8BZ5M7F

And just noticed...it looks from the picture like that power bank only has one USB-C and two USB-A. That would be a problem running two boxes because only USB-C supports the power conversion required.

Thank you for your response. The idea is to use that power bank I mentioned just for Anagram and buy another, slightly smaller one for the other two.

as @drpepper said, your 20,000mAh USB power bank with power delivery (PD) will work fine with the Anagram. For comparison, I use a 10,000mAh USB-C PD power bank and can easily cover a 3 set/3hr gig with a bit of juice left (15%) as a margin of error. So a 20,000mAh power bank should provide quite a bit more running time for the Anagram.

I have no input for the other non-USB devices.

New Anagram owner here and I am BLOWN AWAY by this thing. I've always used some top tier pedals on one of the many variations of my pedal board over the last about 10 years, but it's an incredible time we live in that something like this has come along. Yeah, I know all of the other manufacturers who have had multi-FX units out for the last few decades, but let's be real here. How many were completely bass focused AND also did everything the Anagram can do? I think the answer is zero! I wouldn't have made the jump if even a single aspect couldn't have been replicated from the pedals and signal routing I had been using, and now the world is basically at my fingertips. Two big thumbs up and a thank you to Darkglass!

Hello Anagrammers. I'd like to know if I'm starting to understand a certain aspect. Would this setup I've configured (as a test) be okay, sending the signal chain to my amplifier without cabinet simulation and to FOH with simulation?
To overexplain the post above, if you put an output block in your chain (like the first one you have to send the signal to 'Out 3' before the cabsim block) any remaining/non-specified outputs will get the full signal chain. Hence the poster above noting that the split and 2nd output blocks are unnecessary...

I created a simple fuzzy synth preset for the Anagram. Check out my demo below. the preset is available on the Darkglass Suite under "Fuzzy Synth" by Gusto Bassman. My pickups are in series mode, which boosts the gain a little. You may need to add a gain block or pump the input gain slightly to get the filters to open up like this.

Hi folks!

I'm in the market looking for a device that will do effects and amp/cabinet emulation. Up til now I have used HX Effects for my FX needs, and I have been very happy with this, but I have realized that I need something that will get me through ampless gigs. (Had the rather unpleasant experience of playing a gig in a different country, traveling by plane, where the organizer "forgot" to provide the bass amp that he promised us, and so I had to go direct to FOH without being prepared for this whatsoever.)

For a bit of context:
  • I play heavy, dissonant, music for the most part
  • I use effects on certain parts of songs, such as wah wah, flanger, chorus, various distortions/fuzzes, but my main tone is mostly clean or slightly driven
  • My main bass is a down-tuned Warwick Thumb fretless NT5
  • I also play an NS Design upright Omnibass, with a bow
  • Lately I have also been playing an NS Design electric cello, always with a fair bit of reverb
I'm primarily considering the Quad Cortex Mini (portability is a point when flying to gigs) or the Darkglass Anagram. I am not so interested in going for a Line6 device, even though I like the HXFX, and will hang on to that.

Which should I get? Pros/cons? What would you do if you were me?

Crossposting this to both QC and Anagram threads, to perhaps get opposing points of view.

Thank you all for your input on this. I decided to go for the QC mini in the end, and I hope I made the right choice. It is supposed to arrive here by the end of this week, so I guess I'll know soon enough!

The things that tipped the decision in that direction for me was:
* A seemingly wider range of suitable cello sounds from the QC
* The ability to use some Neural DSP plugins that I already own
* One more footswitch 😅

Any other coders here? The Anagram open source strategy is really interesting. I'll buy one just because of it. I'm looking at the repos to find ways to get involved.

My GitHub: dogweather - Overview

Even if I just went for the QC: Yeah, I'm a coder, and I would be curious about this. Do you have any more info about what is open to the community in terms of the code?
