Darkglass Anagram Multi FX Announced

Maybe it’s a bit off topic, but does anyone know when will Darkglass update the Anagram software and enable the audio interface and bluetooth functionalities?
We are aiming to enable USB audio in the next weeks. Sorry for the wait. We are basically trying to have a stable latency when recording, and we are making great progress.
Bluetooth is also working, just needs some good UI and routing menus. Hopefully on the same release...
Also, NAM got better and some bug fixes users have reported.

Thanks for the great support. We are reading you attentively!

I've been absolutely loving the Anagram the past couple of weeks. Had the first band practice a few days ago and it went down a treat - got plenty of oohhs and aahs and compliments on the sound. Very happy! It was a big call and a bit reckless for me to go all in on the platform, but I'm so glad I did!

One problem to report - I sold my Polytune 3 (and pretty much everything else) given the Anagram had a built in tuner - and while I've already praised the tuner accuracy (for bass) - I also play acoustic and had planned on going through the Anagram. But unfortunately - the tuner tracking for my acoustic is... non existant. It can't identify the correct note and tracks all over the place.

I know this is edge-case and this is a bass-focused product, but would love if this could somehow be resolved in a future update.

I made my first attempts with capturing darkglass' Alpha Omicron and already made some improvements (v2).

When making a quick comparison of the actual darkglass track with the DI+NAM Model of it in my DAW I couldn't hear much of a difference (talking about v2 with bite on).

Though, as mentioned on the tone3000 site there is a huge difference between the first attempts and the "improved" ones. There's more to come.

I am really interested in what you think about it.

For the improvements I followed these instructions for Re-Amping and calibration.
It makes me think that these instructions should be linked somewhere central. I actually only stumbled upon them because I wanted to know what the calibration process actually means, since it is a search filter on tone3000.

Full disclosure: I am a noob to this, I am not a sound engineer, nor do I have a lot of experience with recording. I am just thrilled with the possibilities NAM and the Anagram provide and I am soaking in all the information I can get, coz I have a little too much time recently 😅
A repost from the NAM thread.
I thought maybe some of the anagram owners might wanna try this on the anagram and compare it to the Alpha Omicron that is included in the anagram.

I would be very grateful for some feedback so that I can see if I'm on the right way doing the capturing.

No reamp box needed for the dry/wet method.

You just need something to split your signal, which you can do with the Anagram.

You record one signal completely clean, and the other one you connect it to whatever device you want to capture
Trying to visualize how this works, can you confirm / correct my assumption?

Bass guitar -> input Anagram
Anagram:

Block 1: output XLR 1 with dry signal to DAW input 1

Block 2: send fx loop to external pedal / chain you want to NAM capture

Block 3: return fx loop

Block 4: output XLR 2 with wet signal to DAW input 2

I’ll do a quick youtube video to show this process tonight

Thanks for chiming in! Please put on the list support for two mono FX loops (obviously via TRS to TS splitters). All the hw is in place, just need some logic in send and return blocks, e.g., tell send block I want send mono sum of current chain to L of send TRS or to R of send TRS and tell return block I want to receive only L or only R from return TRS. Seems trivial and greatly expands flexibility.

I did two concerts with the anagram and I really find the system of changing banks rotten.... random sometimes, whether it's me who presses badly or the machine... Is there an alternative? One thing I find weird is the scene modifications, stomp, the impression that by changing a scene scenario, it has made a mess in the present in stomp mode...

As one of the early adopters I ordered on release day and sold my Stomp XL + accessories after a week. Not looking back, though I'm happy to keep Helix Native for recording guitar related stuff at home.

Currently exploring NAM and enjoying building sounds for my main band and personal fun. I find it rather time-consuming, since new sounds, which are smoothly dialed in, inspire me to fiddle for too long...

BTW: first post here, hi @all

Welcome! And good luck to your wallet in all future endeavours while reading threads on here 😃

@Rockyy12

A lot of amps are captured multiple times with different settings.

Let's say we load the following nam files:

SVT Gain_3 Bright_off Deep_off.nam
SVT Gain_3 Bright_on Deep_off.nam
SVT Gain_3 Bright_off Deep_on.nam
SVT Gain_3 Bright_on Deep_on.nam
SVT Gain_5 Bright_off Deep_off.nam
SVT Gain_5 Bright_on Deep_off.nam
SVT Gain_5 Bright_off Deep_on.nam
SVT Gain_5 Bright_on Deep_on.nam
SVT Gain_8 Bright_off Deep_off.nam
SVT Gain_8 Bright_on Deep_off.nam
SVT Gain_5 Bright_off Deep_on.nam
SVT Gain_5 Bright_on Deep_on.nam

Could we imagine a user interface where we can see (an change) the settings instead of scrolling through a list a model names?

NAM UI multiple captures of the same amp.jpg

The first knob would load the file with the corresponding Gain, knobs 2 and 3 would enable to turn the bright & deep switch on and off by selecting the corresponding file.

I imagine this could be done either by using a specific naming convention, or adding a dedicated page in the editor…

Just dreaming 😇

That's almost impossible with the given details in a NAM I believe. It has to be programmed what Deep and Bright means... escpecially not everyone names its Captures like that :(
it would only work when the naming convention is respected: a series of parameters (name_value). No need to understand what a given parameter means, it would just load the corresponding file. I know it’s complex (I said I was dreaming), but I think it’s feasable in theory.

I’m not sure it would be worth the challenge of coding the UI for Darkglass team, and the hassle of respecting a very strict naming convention, I’m just throwing an idea for fun.

Actually I'm quite confident that the Anagram with added midi footswitches and an expression turns out to be the end of a journey instead of a beginning - a least at regarding a "pedalboard" together with wireless. My priority regarding implementing full functionality would be midi atm...

This was in one of videos that they work with NAM on morphing tech, that would do just that - seamlessly morph between multiple models of single device captured with different gain and/or other parameters.

Maybe I'm too anal but, I'm having trouble with the knobs. I find it nearly impossible to dial in some things exactly. For example, try dialing in a frequency of 40.0 Hz on the High Pass Filter block.

Also, on blocks like the Harmonic Booster, I would like to see the actual mid-range frequencies for the Mid Freq control instead of arbitrary numbers 1-10.
