Darkglass Anagram Multi FX Announced

Do you all foresee any type of external addition of a footswitch being needed for live purposes similar to the HX Stomp or does it function really well just with the given footswitches? I can't see myself switching between more than 2 to 3 scenes/presets on a Sunday. Exciting times to be playing our instrument with all the new tech coming out and how good it sounds! Cheers.

I’ve gotten spoiled for switches using my HX Effects, so I’ve preemptively picked up a Morningstar MC6 Pro for when MIDI comes more fully online.

Depending on the gig, it could entirely be overkill and the 3 buttons on the Anagram would be more than sufficient, especially if you’re using presets to dial in meaningfully different sounds and signal chains or tend to live in a sound with little variation. If your approach centers around variations of a single large or complex chain, then you may appreciate the extra buttons.

Just a friendly reminder that a tone which sounds unpleasant on its own, can work extremely well in a mix.

Of course, there are exceptions to this, but the general principle is to judge things in context. Not on their own
I recall being horrified listening to the DI tone from bootleg board mixes of some very big name rock & metal bands. So true. The live tone considerations tend to be quite a bit different than what you'd go for in an isolated, pleasant, listening environment.

I'm really considering selling my board and pedals and getting an Anagram when they become more widely back in stock. I do feel like before doing this that I need to travel somewhere and try one out in person for at least a little while....which sadly there aren't many stores near me that are going to have one available.

It would lighten my load that I'm carrying into my regular church gigs as well as increase my tonal capabilities. Probably the only thing I would combine with it on a mini board would be my current volume pedal for the ability to do swells in and out. I've already done exactly what you're thinking about. I had one of the early Anagrams and have sold almost all of my analog pedals. After the sales and Anagram purchase, I'm about a grand in the positive. But, even better, my tone has never been better.

My only current gig is at church on Sunday mornings, where we perform four songs, and I create a separate scene for each one, pretty much matching the bass from the original recording.

I hope Darkglass collaborates with all the great analog producers, as when I capture a sound, it's like a snapshot of the product with its current settings, where I'd love to have, for example, the Origin Effects big box Cali with all the controls for the Anagram. I'd pay $100 for that quality capture, and my heart wants to support Origin and other companies for their great work. Imagine having an Aggie DB 751 for $100 with zero extra weight instead of $3500 and 43 pounds?

By the way, I did some NAM captures of a tone I used in the studio. I’m pretty happy with the result.

Hey Ivan, what’s your process for capturing this? I’ve watched several videos on the topic, but I’m curious how you’re doing it?

Grabbed these a few days ago! They sound great!

I used the dry/wet method.
You need to record two signals at the same time. A clean DI and the tone you want to capture.

The cool thing about NAM is that I could capture the plugin chain I used for the recording session. It’s really a game changer.

I need to experiment more with other plugins and analog pedals, but I’m pretty positively surprised so far.

What reamp box are you using?

Also, how does the Mesa amp sound… is it pretty close? And if so, to which head? WD, TT, D800+?

Perhaps, but it wastes valuable time (fiddling) that could be spent elsewhere. I’m sure I’ll have to invest time in the process to capture certain effects, but out of the box I’d like to be up and running quickly (gigging) with what’s on the pedal vs wasting time fiddling.

I wouldn't look at it as wasting time fiddling, more so as having fun capturing tones or finding something you like. Once you do find it, it'll be set and forget. You'll definitely find something on the Anagram that works for you, it's hard to make this thing sound bad.

No reamp box needed for the dry/wet method.

You just need something to split your signal, which you can do with the Anagram.

You record one signal completely clean, and the other one you connect it to whatever device you want to capture

I second that! Ivan your NAM capture with a drive in front is my new “go to” tone. Thank you for that!
Happy to hear that! Should I make No-Cab versions in case any of you want to use the tone with your own cabinets?

Here's a sample of the drive capture using my G&L P-Bass
