Darkglass Anagram Multi FX Announced

I'm playing with the expression bindings.
Does anyone know if EXP can be only be bound to one parameter at a time? Or more than one, I see a plus icon, but no real UI guidance as of how many parameters are bound at the same time.
The binding name gets renamed to "Macro" which kinda gives me hope.

Note: No, haven't read the manual.
Note 2: I'm in too deep on this and can't tell the sonic differences to answer my own question.

I did two concerts with the anagram and I really find the system of changing banks rotten.... random sometimes, whether it's me who presses badly or the machine... Is there an alternative? One thing I find weird is the scene modifications, stomp, the impression that by changing a scene scenario, it has made a mess in the present in stomp mode...
I don't have an Anagram but I am following along closely as this box gets out there in the world and used by all kinds of performers. I am most interested in Live Performance use of the Anagram so your critical post got my attention. OTOH others here like Murph_Orpheus and IvanBassist have seemingly used the Anagram in live performance settings with good results.

I originally focused on the unit only having 3 footswitches, and if I go the Anagram route, I will very likely get one of the recommended footswitches to extend my ability to quickly change settings. Given all that the Anagram can seemingly do, I can definitely see using more than 3 primary setups when playing live.

Wonder what's going on with your situation ??

@Rockyy12

A lot of amps are captured multiple times with different settings.

Let's say we load the following nam files:

SVT Gain_3 Bright_off Deep_off.nam
SVT Gain_3 Bright_on Deep_off.nam
SVT Gain_3 Bright_off Deep_on.nam
SVT Gain_3 Bright_on Deep_on.nam
SVT Gain_5 Bright_off Deep_off.nam
SVT Gain_5 Bright_on Deep_off.nam
SVT Gain_5 Bright_off Deep_on.nam
SVT Gain_5 Bright_on Deep_on.nam
SVT Gain_8 Bright_off Deep_off.nam
SVT Gain_8 Bright_on Deep_off.nam
SVT Gain_5 Bright_off Deep_on.nam
SVT Gain_5 Bright_on Deep_on.nam

Could we imagine a user interface where we can see (an change) the settings instead of scrolling through a list a model names?

The first knob would load the file with the corresponding Gain, knobs 2 and 3 would enable to turn the bright & deep switch on and off by selecting the corresponding file.

I imagine this could be done either by using a specific naming convention, or adding a dedicated page in the editor…

Just dreaming 😇
I’m curious about your config as I recall you were playing through a cool custom tube amp, how are you using your Anagram?
Are you plugging into the input of your tube amp, effects return, or are you now going direct to the PA from the XLR and not using an amp with the Anagram? Or something else?

For me, they always sound like a cocked wah pedal. I can´t stand that sound.
Many QC Presets from famous YouTubers who worked with stock cabs also had this (for me) disgusting filter sound.

I can really recommend the (free) Shift Line IRs. There is a Mesa 215 which is probaly the best IR I´ve ever heard.
Maybe off topic but I got a Captor X for my Tyler Amp and of all the sims that Two Notes offers this Mesa IR is what’s currently loaded up; sounds so good

I don't have Anagram yet :smug:

I might buy it one day but it's expensive and I don't really need all that greatness, so it's hard to justify. But the user interface of Anagram corresponds to something I've been dreaming about for years (I'm a UX designer, so I often think about what would be the best possible user interface for music gear… Kudos to the Darkglass team, they've nail it).

I have 3 amps that I love (including a cool tube amp), so if I had the Anagram I would probably use mostly effects but it would be nice to be able to use it direct into a PA for special occasions when I can't bring an amp.

That is what we call Dynamic Capturing. And we blend them with a mechanism that uses some AI. On top of it, we add some schematic code when needed, especially for the EQ section.
I can see how many NAM models are uploaded with a similar logic...so let us think, cause this is maybe something to address also with Tone3000 and NAM via an API. But, yeah...good suggestion! Thanks

KNK Shields, I am really interested, but the additional costs are insane. I got ones for my QC and the Helix back in the days and had to put 25% on top for shipping and Paypal handling. I´m too spoiled by big companys (Looking at you Amazon).

For the Preset / Bank Changes, I agree. 90% of the time, when I switch to another Preset I accidently slide into scene 2 or 3. Thats why I have a Midi Controller installed for now.

The expression pedal is what frustrates me at the moment. I don´t know if it has to do with having a logarithmic or linear pedal. It just don´t work like it should.

Apart from that I am very happy with my sounds. I even tend to not use a "big" Amp Block at all. Just the Harmonic Booster, the Gentle and my favourite IR, already sounds awesome.

Which midi pedal do you use?

We are aiming to enable USB audio in the next weeks. Sorry for the wait. We are basically trying to have a stable latency when recording, and we are making great progress.
Bluetooth is also working, just needs some good UI and routing menus. Hopefully on the same release...
Also, NAM got better and some bug fixes users have reported.

Thanks for the great support. We are reading you attentively!
@Rockyy12 ,

Hi,
Thank you for your reply! I'm very excited about the Anagram and actually considering replacing my Quad Cortex with it. For that reason, having an audio interface is essential.

Bluetooth would definitely be a nice addition, but it’s not as critical.

I also believe that being able to set the BPM per preset is essential. Currently, only a global BPM setting is available. Since I use delay on many of the songs I play—and the tempos vary—per-preset BPM would make a big difference.

Are there any plans for the BPM tempo in the near future?

Thank you very much and cheers from Munich, Germany!

I’d say investing 80 EUR to protect a 1k EUR device is worth it 😅

Here you go guys. Hope it helps! The video is set to "Unlisted", so it won't popup on Youtube search.
I might consider doing a more polished version if there's a demand for it.

Very cool, thank you. It's cool to be able to capture an amp so easily, just playing your own bass lines.
I'm currently making NAM captures of my amps, but I'm reamping the test file they provide, which is awful to listen to.
I didn't know we can use our own bass line.

But I wonder: I suppose using their test file guarantees a better result because it contains everything NAM needs to capture every aspect of the amp (all frequencies, all levels of dynamics), whereas the free bass line you are using may be lacking some useful content? Else why would they provide their file?

Didn't occur to me that we could capture plugin chains, or even hybrids of pedals, amps, and plugin chains! This is a small thing, but I frequently practice direct into my UA Apollo interface using the SVT-VR Classic, which is a very bare bones Ampeg model. But I've always really liked the tone, and haven't deep dive enough to recreate it with other amp modeling. Would be great to have that tone handy in a NAM-capable pedal!

Thanks for the explainer vid!

From the description that is provided by tone 3000 I assume that the sweep file is the more accurate and first choice method.

Yet, one big advantage with the dry wet signal method is, that you don't need a reamping device.

Yeah. It's a great sounding plugin. Probably the one I use the most, but the non-classic version.
