Darkglass Anagram Multi FX Announced

Hey guys,
Apologies for the silence on this topic.

As of this Monday, we’ve resumed debugging the FET (one of our main DSP engineers was on holiday). Interestingly, our findings with the APX so far differ from what was initially posted here, but we will continue to investigate.

We’ve just launched a new beta testing channel for existing Anagram users. In this space, we’ll test upcoming software versions, bugs, new features, gather feedback, debug release candidates, and engage directly with the design team.
(USB audio for example, is being tested now)
I think this would be the ideal place to submit direct feedback, which we can test right away.

This is the first time this link has been made public, and I thought here was the best place to share it.

Looking forward to your thoughts!

Thanks again!
Thanks @Rockyy12 and I'll happily sign up as a beta tester. Regarding the Hyper Luminal issue; Another local Anagram player reached out to me saying I was wrong about it not providing any gain reduction as he could "clearly hear it compressing." I disagreed as I can still hear no gain reduction when using Hyper Luminal, even on extreme settings, but not wanting to discount what he was hearing I ran another series of tests. I tested the dynamics processing using DDMF's Plugin Doctor in standalone mode once again and the results were the same at all compression ratios with the input maxed; no gain reduction. I then used an analog tone generator into the instrument input of Anagram feeding into a Line Audio 8MP set with the gain well below clipping, and then into a MOTU 16A for A to D conversion which was also below clipping. I recorded the results and none of the available tones on the analog tone generator (250hz, 500hz, 1khz, 2khz) registered any gain reduction when measuring the recorded audio comparing Hyper Luminal engaged and bypassed. I did this test at all available compression ratios and there was no change in terms of level. There was a change in the frequency response which seems to indicate that Hyper Luminal provides a degree of tone color, which is not surprising given the nature of FET compressors, but ultimately zero gain reduction was occurring.

Yeah one of the first things I tried was the Hyper Luminal and even at the most extreme settings it isn't compressing my sound. If it was compressing at 4:1 you'd notice quite the difference as you turn up the ratio and there is none. It alters tone a little but it's not compressing

SBL just dropped a video about the Anagram. I left a comment regarding the Hyper Luminal not providing any gain reduction. Hopefully Scott or Ian see it and as a result one of the Darkglass contacts is notified so the issue can be resolved. Please like or reply to my comment so it’s visibility increases so the chances of it making it to Darkglass are higher.

Darkglass seem pretty confident there is nothing wrong with the Luminal block:

"Thank you for checking in and I hope you are well.

After some testing we have verified that the Luminal block is working and there is no bug causing a malfunction.

If you would like an aggressive compression with the FET compressor and especially if you are using a potentially low output bass,

an additional boost with a Gain block or another one of preference might be needed before the compressor, in addition to turning up the Input control setting."

We’re still investigating the issue.

The message Chris shared was a response from one of our engineers, forwarded in good faith. Yet this is not a final verdict.
Anagram is thought to be a community-driven platform, which means we listen rather than set and forget.

On a related note, we’ve received 19 beta tester requests so far. Thank you all for the enthusiasm!!

We plan to add the group to the beta space this afternoon.

My tests that identified this issue to the public were done with the input control maxed while receiving a signal that put the input gain meter at about 75% of its range. If that’s not enough to get HL to provide any measurable gain reduction then the block is either malfunctioning or poorly designed. By comparison, the Bus compressor readily compresses at that point.

Firmware update appears to be available according to Darkglass socials. I’ve not checked it out yet.

I just installed and tested for a few moments. USB audio is not working from all sources. For example, I'm able to play audio through Audacity, but other sources like VLC Player and the web browser (for YouTube), it's silence.

I'm on Windows 10... I don't have an advanced setup... Like I said, I use Audacity for simple recording/editing... With my HX Stomp, I always use VLC or the web browser to play along backing tracks... However, that's not working with Anagram for some reason.
I finally got audio working through VLC by manually changing the audio output module to "WaveOut Audio Output". But there's still no audio coming from any of the browsers (Chrome, Brave, Edge).

Are you still taking applicants?? I applied this afternoon, this last update has convinced me to keep this unit and I hope to help out going forward!
