Evenso I think the preamp can simulate OD really good if you dont overdo it. But it's a matter of taste. I'm coming from the hifi glitter kind of taste and I like what I can achieve with this amp regarding cover rock music

Darkglass Microtubes 900 Class D Amp

So there I was setting up for recording tomorrow. Messing about with settings and arranging the headphone amps etc. "Sound checking" and turned on the B3K in the amp. Sounds good. Stomped on the B7K.... oh dear. I thought I was going to be able to sell that preamp now when I have the amp. B7K->B3K seems like such overkill.... apparently not.

Well if you're getting or have the amp, it has the B3K already, so that would be redundant wouldn't it?
Maybe sell/trade towards a B7k, then you've got all the bases covered.

Keep it. My pedalboard consists of a B3K feeding into a B7K. I use the B7K as an "always-on" pedal for a light drive, but then when I want to really crank it I hit the B3K (which is set to MAX drive). It's my way of making a B7K Ultra.
With the Darkglass amp I plan on running the internal microtubes with light drive and keep a B3K on my pedalboard for max drive. Either that or a B7K so I can kinda sculpt the eq with the heavy drive as well to boost the sh1t out of my mids when I've got the heavy grind turned on.

I too like the sound of cascading both circuits. Which was something I never foresaw when designing the circuits, the happiest of accidents!

Yes during these sessions I'm only going direct for isolation purposes as we are tracking drums at this point. I'll be coming back with my cabinet to track bass keepers.
In the weekend I tried using the M900 as a preamp to a power amp. I have never done something like it before, so this is maybe a stupid set of questions. I tried connecting the pre-out of the M900 to the power amp, but didn't get anything, unless I plugged in a plug into the power-in on the M900. Why was that? I am really interested in driving a power amp, or the power section of a backline amp with the M900.
They never really were in stock. They're pretty much all special orders right now.
I didn't even see it listed in the catalogue as out of stock or for pre-order. Seems like you have to call them to ask about it.
Yeah you're going to have to call them up to order one. They're getting them in, but they're basically all special orders. They likely won't put them on their site until they've got an actual physical stock of them.

Mh, interesting question. You can try maxing it out while the Input switch is set on Passive mode (I've done that to get some solid state growl in the past with mixed results). If the Microtubes 900 stays clean even then I would try using the Microtubes Engine on low drive settings (start with blend at noon as well).

Are you trying to use the Microtubes 900's preamp with another power amplifier? In that case you'd have to connect the 900's preamp out with the power amp in/FX Return of the other amplifier you're trying to use.
