Darkglass Microtubes 900 Class D Amp

Two quick questions for anyone willing to answer:
1) Anyone know how this would work alone, sans cab, straight into the board for studio recording? I'm assuming that's the point of the balanced out...
2) I'm trying to build a modular studio set up for guitar and bass. How would this work as a platform for other pre-amps? I have a few other bass and guitar pre's...Verellen, Rusty Box, etc.
Was considering the Verellen Kalaloch, but the size/weight/price for this seems pretty amazing.

Having a killer studio for bass and guitar involves a lot of things. By your question, I assume you mean to use the power amp section with other preamps to drive a speaker that you mic. I am sure is would be fine if the preamp in question has enough power to drive the power stage to full output. Generally though, I would first think about using modeling systems for power stages and cabs. Two Notes has some good stuff in that realm. It can emulate different types of tube and S/S amps, cabs mics, room sizes and mic placements. For the Verellen sound, I would pick up a Meatsmoke preamp. I think the DG amp would also make a great preamp on its own for recording.
Question for @Darkglass: Does this amp have a built-in filter for sub-sonics? You know stuff below 35Hz that could get into the signal.
I just did this exact thing XLR out into a NEVE pre into Logic no cabinet at all during drum tracking for 6 songs. I just got the rough mix tonight and the bass sounds absolutely amazing for a throwaway scratch track. I spent all of 5 minutes dialing up a useful tone on the amp as I has just received it in the mail a few days proir to the studio visit. I was floored.
Hey @Darkglass any idea when the M900's are hitting the UK? I've had one on pre-order for what seems like forever with @BassDirect... they've been great for keeping in contact (for this and all my other Darkglass purchases), but keep endlessly saying 'it'll be next week'...
@husky123 The Bergantino NV412 is my favorite cab in the world - I've run all kinds of heads through it, always sounds great. Last year I was running a B7K into a Tone Hammer 500 and was very happy. Does the MT900 give me that punch and simpler signal path?
They have hit the UK. I received mine on the 13th from another UK dealer (out of respect to BD I had better not name them). I think they sold out pretty quickly though.

Great question! Yes and no: there aren't any HPF's cutting any low end for that only specific purpose but there are several on the circuit nonetheless as any RC network where the resistor is connected to either rail will be a first order HPF.
So no worries, your speakers are safe given that you use the appropriate power rating yet your sound can be as fat and full of low end as you want.
Bass Direct's order has been shipped recently so check with them. Next week is indeed the most likely ETA.

@Darkglass , the packaging is cat approved. Then again it's kinda hard for any cat to not like a box.
The mute/switch feels SOLID! My MB800 channel switch is about the same size but doesn't feel brute like this. That's not something I'd normally give a rat's a$$ about but when it's in your hands it kinda changes it.

Thanks for posting that -- it's very helpful to see the amps from three views like that. Pretty sure the MBF800 is wider than the MB500, though.

MB800 is H:1.75" X W:12.25" X D:10.75"
MB500 is H:1.75" X W:10.75" X D:8.5"
No worries! Thanks for the photos. I'd forgotten how relatively shallow the 1001 RBii is. Some wild-looking basses in the background, by the way!
