I voted Will Lee & Modern, but I'd give a slight favor toward the Modern. These are two different animals, but both are versatile beasts.

I hope you can make this a reality in a handful of years!

Once you retire you may want to emerge from your bedroom & play some fun gigs. That doesn’t help your choice but retirement has some very cool aspects to it.

It would be fun to play somewhere other than church. I can imagine the church getting younger musicians and I would also love to play some secular music.

I originally voted for a Super5, then started thinking of all the posts I have read of you wanting a USA Sadowsky ,or these days a German one. I changed my vote to a Will Lee. Years ago I played a Sadowsky five at Corner Music in Nashville man that bass was magical!
Later in the day we went to Gruhns Vintage and they had three really nice Sadowskys Quilted and Koa tops all the extras. I didn’t like them as much only because they had higher action, which could be easily remedied .
Doc I have a MTD 534 on order have wanted one for 25 years was quoted 10 to 12 month build time, but I think it will be closer to 16 months.

I had a Sadowsky M5-24 many years ago. It was a great bass. I haven't gotten along with Sadowsky basses since then. My Roscoe Century is similar as it has soapbars in a similar position, 24 frets, etc. I remember I did play that Sadowsky for a show the day I received it.

I have the Will Lee with soaps. A superb bass, but it can be a bit difficult to get the low mids I prefer. If I used it more often, it probably wouldn't be quite an issue as I'd be more familiar with dialing it in.

I know it is counterintuitive, but I think the tighter budget is a good incentive to pick a goal and work towards it.

They both sound good . My ears really like the “ modern “ pickup placement vs 60’s.

I've never owned or even played a Sadowsky P-Bass, but it seems to me that there are many less expensive options if you're looking for a great P-Bass.

When talking to Jason Desalvo about specs I was crying but I tried to hide it Doc I went from a homeless addict eight years earlier, to being able to budget for a Fodera was surreal beyond grateful!

I love the simplicity of the look of your bass. Those black blocks remind me of the old DJ5 I used to have.

Thanks man! It originally came with a pearloid pickguard and I absolutely hated the look of that thing. I decided matte black was the way to go, to match the hardware and control plate. I think the 2-tone aesthetic looks much more sleek. I had to pay to get the PG custom made but I figured if I paid that much for a bass, I better make sure I like how it looks.
