FWIW, I love my Sadowsky NYC PJ 5. I feel like it delivers enough of each (P and J) quality for what I need and it is endlessly playable and light (chambered body). I highly recommend Sadowsky and do not think you can really go wrong with one...
I own a Super 5. There really aren’t that many Kingstons around.
That’s the challenge, isn’t it? Actually, if my long term saving for something nicer is successful, I would consider it a success no matter what I do or do not buy.

It's really none of my business, but do you ever sell any of your past purchases to finance new ones?
I recently received a Sadowsky MetroLine Will Lee RW4. I can’t say enough good things about it. The feel, finish, fit and controls are all top notch. It’s tonal versatility is remarkable.
My only gripe was with the Schaller strap locks, so I swapped them for standard Fender strap buttons. My previous Number 1 was a Fender Custom Shop ‘64 Jazz Bass.

Sometimes I do sell stuff to buy new stuff, but I could all of my stuff and still need to add about $2K for the basses I am thinking about.
I'm thinking it'd be worse if you were a champagne bassist with bedroom taste in gear... so, you got that going for you...

The opposite is true, I have bought dozens of basses instead biting the bullet and buying a Sadowsky. My RSD let me know that I am ready to pickup what Sadowsky is putting down. Reviewing a German Metroline at a local GC was 100% proof that I would really enjoy taking the plunge and buy a Sadowsky bass built to their traditional level of fit and finish:

Doc I just got sick and tired of being sick and tired it was the higher power that did it. All of us have had challenges to put it mildly. I don’t have kids so that makes GAS easier
We know you are putting your daughter through college and that’s more important than any bass, which means when your time comes for the dream bass it will be even sweeter!
Get the Modern, it offers something different tone-wise. You can always run a Jazz bass through a Sadowsky outboard preamp.

I think the Modern makes the most sense for me. We will see if I am still thinking this way when I have the cash in hand. BTW, Warwick/Sadowsky should write you a check for your videos playing your Sadowsky Modern. Obviously, you are a fine player on a bass, but I love what your Modern brings to the table.

I just finished choir rehearsal a half an hour ago and I am totally in love with the thick bass boost that preamp delivers. It truly fills mix like nothing else. Between my RSD and Super 5, I do not need another bass. These basses are too nice to trade for anything, that is big reason why Sadowsky Metroline purchase will not happen anytime soon.
You have 2 very nice basses that you enjoy playing and suit your needs perfectly.
The Modern will make a great addition and wonderful retirement gift .You might end up getting it sooner than you think. The best part is you won’t feel deprived while you are saving for the Modern. Start saving and enjoy playing what you have. Some things are worth the wait.

As much as I like different pickup combo’s like P/MM, Soaps, PJ…every time I go back to a standard J5, I can’t get over how good it sounds.

That goes double for Sadowsky because the preamp gives a Jazz a presence that no other Jazz has.
