Man, I'm really missing the logic in the defense in this thread.

The idea of saying that Dave is one of the "coolest dude on the planet" when you know that he takes money from people and doesn't deliver what's been paid for, and then strings people on for years with excuses is kind of the definition of someone who is uncool. At least in my book.

The idea that anyone should pay for something and, and then have to sweet talk or butter up the service provider in order to gets what's been paid for is ridiculous. Nobody is that special that they should get to treat others poorly... IMO.

You don't know anything about what Dave is or is not doing and are not in a position to make a judgment about it. You have no proof other than anonymous posts on a forum on the internet. This forum is not a courtroom and no evidence has been submitted.

I make no claims to what Dave is doing or not doing. I simply tried to offer advice on how to go about getting a good end result. It looks to me this is not going to happen.

There is no disputing the fact that Dave has been a well respected Icon in the industry for many years and has had many many years of many happy satisfied customers.

To lump him in with Dr. Bass whom was ripping people off from day one would be idiocy and I'm certain the forum mods would not allow this. Dave is a well known amp manufacturer. I'm not sure what is going on here the title of the thread is "Is Dave Funk Awol?" I answered the question, no he is indeed not. I called him and he answered, the person in questioned called (which sounds to me like for the first time) and he answered.

I tried to offer advice as to how I would handle Dave at this point. I can almost guarantee further gnashing of teeth is going to yield no amp. According to this young man, Dave has his money I would get really sweet at least right up until I had an amp in my possession and then I would call him every name in the book from now to dooms day. IMO vitriol is not going to get the guy an amp YMMV. Should he have to be sweet? Hell no (I agree) but the guy has paid all the money up front (a move I consider to be reckless) and now he has to figure out a way to get his amp. BTW Dave maintains there is no back log for anyone which I cant confirm or deny but that is his side of the story.

Should there be a sticky added to the Forums? Yes, it should read "Do not pay up front for an item that is not made yet or not in stock". A fool and his money are soon parted. I will add wise man is never parted with his money.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I have a bad memory) there is one person in this thread that is claiming not to have been served? There were others that had repairs IIRC but they got their amps back right?

I searched there are two threads here (that I could find) regarding not being properly served by Dave. The other thread is by a person in this thread that has stated he got his amp back repaired. That I can find on TB there is one person that has not be served. I can find no other. To the Dr Bass comparison there were countless threads by people who had been ripped off by him. There is one on TB that is claimed not served by Dave that I can find. I agree one is too many and I hope this gets resolved.

In contrast there are countless threads of happy Thunderfunk customers gleaming with post of how nice Dave is and what a great service they got.
I'm just trying to keep a little perspective here. After looking and commenting in this thread several times over the past year I pick up the phone and get him immediately. I must have a magic phone.

Ok, man. I'm going to go ahead and see my way out of this conversation.

FWIW, I've actually owned two Thunderfunk amps (great amps - also owned two AMP amps before that), and have dealt with Dave before, which was not a great experience. I have no reason not to believe srcTW, or the other folks who said they had trouble contacting him or had strange experiences at various points, so I'm not just taking poopie or trying to badmouth Dave. I was making a comment about customer service, and my views on how that should go.

And, FWIW, I wasn't "lumping him in with Dr. Bass", I was making a point about how we share info on this forum, and that can help protect the community. Maybe someone else will not have the same bad experience due to reading a little info on here. People of course are free to make up their own minds and spend their money how they want. If my post was out of line, then I'm sure the mods will take care of it.

I think judging from what I've seen we best steer clear of TF other than used. I would hope anyone researching these amps will find this thread and act accordingly in a safe manor. I think it best to take all of this and brother I mean all of this with a grain of salt. There are folks here selling their wares and allowed to go against the rules in how they talk to individuals daily who are selling amps that are rated at 1/4 of the power they are advertised as but you cant say anything if you do you get banned then there is one guy on here didn't get what he should and this guy Dave should be crucified. I think there is a little imbalance going on here perhaps its best if I vacate too.

I’m getting tired of being called reckless for paying up front to a reputable manufacturer. Payment installments were NOT an option for this manufacturer. In the age of the internet I ordered online and have conversed with Dave via email. Now I called him. I do expect an amp.

I’ll let the thread know when I actually receive the amp.

There are folks here selling their wares and allowed to go against the rules in how they talk to individuals daily who are selling amps that are rated at 1/4 of the power they are advertised as but you cant say anything if you do you get banned then there is one guy on here didn't get what he should and this guy Dave should be crucified. I think there is a little imbalance going on here perhaps its best if I vacate too.

I phoned him again today. I'm incredibly patient (obviously) but I'm running out (and told him so on voicemail today). If I get the amp I wager it will be the last production amp he ever makes.

I saw a nice-looking used one at a good price ( IMHO ) recently pop up on TB classifieds.

If that's an option for you, that one looked really good, had a special DI upgrade, etc. Best of luck.

I'm really shocked that yet another manufacturer is being flacky and basically screwing people over, seriously what is going on, what happened to getting your amp at the end of summer last year, I'm so sorry this is happening to you, the idiot should give your money back.
I really hope you get your amp.

Get off your duff and take care of your customers!!!!! Beyond pathetic. I will NEVER buy again or reccomend anyone buy one of these amps as long as he continues with this "take the money and run" approach to business!

I would begin looking elsewhere for someone to work on your amp. Even if he did answer the phone, under no circumstances would I send my amp to Dave or give him one dime.

Remember that part of the selling point of the TH amp is.. "Handmade in the USA, and designed so that you can get one repaired literally anywhere in the world." -- that language taken right off the TF web page.

Any experienced electronics tech can work on a tfunk. Maybe you can find someone local in your area.

I did have someone else work on it but there are still issues & I need to talk to him for info only as to how to resolve the issues. There is no way I would send the amp to him at this point!
