Dave Funk AWOL???

Oh and his name is definitely Robert Gunnison as I friended him on FB and after looking at his FB page I can tell by looking at his family they match what he told me. So Prince aint really Prince and Dave Funk is Robert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It doesn't appear to me to be something he is hiding.

Glad he's doing well. Maybe @srcTW can get on the line with him and figure out what's going on.

Yep. I will give him a call.

Our emails back and forth by the way would lead me to be very surprised that he’s unaware of any order backlog. 1% of my communication about this is here on TalkBass. The rest has been with him directly until he stopped answering emails.

We shall see. Hopefully all is well.

But if multiple people have amps in his repair queue (and have for months or years), why does he say that he's not aware of this? Isn't adding up...

I could not address this. All I can tell you is I called and he answered. I do not have a dog in this one either way. The story that Dave is missing and or not taking calls is false.

I talked to him today by phone. I asked him essentially if I'd ever get my amp. He told me he can cancel my order but that he does not offer refunds... so that didn't make sense. I asked him to set my expectations: will I get an amp and when. He said, 'yes - by the end of summer.' So I'll look for something in 3 months.

Since he has not been responding to my recent emails, I asked him if communication by email works for him or not and he said, 'yes email is great.'

He said that he was told that "people were talking s*** about him on TalkBass." He must have been referring to @Red Planet. I told him that he should read the thread personally. I told him I was strictly stating facts regarding my order with him. He indicated he no longer reads TalkBass so I do not expect him to read this.

He mentioned that he was told that there are repairs in his shop waiting for service. He told me that this is not the case. He said my amp is the only one in his shop and 'it is almost done.'

So there it is. Time will tell. I do have quite a bit of private correspondence with him via email that I will not share here.

I directed him to this thread told him some folks were upset.

Sounds to me like you will be getting an amp, I would try a lot of sugar at this point. His amps are fantastic and very high quality.
I hope everything works out for you.

I’m not doing anything that is not sugar and nothing that is sugar. Just - hey I paid for an amp I’d sure like to have it.

Appreciate the encouragement.

Well I'm saying Dave is in a winding down stage. You sent him your money (which I would never do) and you are now at his mercy. Pissing him off may not be the fastest way to get your amp, buttering him up however may go a long way to you getting what you paid for. I am in no way insinuating that Dave has done anything right or wrong but the route of the soup Nazi for you is not advised IMO. You can stand on your principals after you get your amp.

It would seem to me you have very little recourse legally unless you want to spend 5 grand to get your 2 grand. Heck I have a customer who is refusing to pay me an $11,000.00 invoice simply on the fact that they think the bill is too high but did not ask for a price up front (how does that work). What are the chances I will ever get my money? And get this its stealing if I go to their property and remove our hard earned work, I could go to prison for removing the goods that I paid for (from my vendors) that they have not. :crying:

I absolutely love Thunderfunk Amps and I believe Dave is one of the coolest dudes on the planet but I would never pay an individual up front for something that has not yet been built. I would gladly give a deposit but I would never pay in full for something that does not yet exist.

I would find a way to get Dave to want you to have the amp in your possession.
