I've considered buying another Thunderfunk(used), but after the latest developments all I think is "no way" every time I see one in the classifieds. I'd bet others are thinking the same. Demand(or the lack of) dictates the value.

True, true.
I guess the longer something sits out there for sale, the more the price starts to come down, and the more people perceive it as not desirable.

I guess I'm an example of that. Every time I see a TFB amp in the classifieds I think about it... but after my last experience (particularly my experience with Dave), I tell my self to move along.

Good amps are still good amps. And the amps are still serviceable by 3rd party techs. I'm not sure that using reaction and service times by this guy at what is clearly the end of his career is altogether fair.

And I'm not just saying this because maybe, just MAYBE I'll have the last amp he ever makes in my hands one day ;).

True, true.
But sometimes a bad experience can really turn you off of something - like thinking you got food poisoning at your favorite restaurant. Great food, you love it, but maybe you never want to go back there, and maybe you tell your friends not to go there, and they tell their friends...
Even though you probably got the food poisoning from that leftover sandwich you ate for lunch that had been sitting out for hours and not that restaurant at all.

The TFB is still and always will be a great amp. One of the all time classics IMO.

Say what you want about "Dave Funk's" (real name ROBERT GUNNISON) (un)availability and unreliability not being an issue on the resale value of a TF amp. But I can assure you that after my experience of waiting +5 months to get my amp back, and countless unanswered emails and phone calls, it has permanently soured me on the brand. When I did finally get it back, I immediately sold it, and I will not under any circumstances ever buy another TF amp.

Dave Funk has been Dave Funk since the beginning. Dave Funk is a world renown amp designer and builder. He is the only person ever entrusted to build Trainwreck amps for Fisher.

When I bought an amp from him years ago his PayPal address said I was send the funds to Robert Gunnison.

He has been going by Dave Funk for a very long time, and I've only ever known him as that. He worked for Gibson as Dave Funk. Not that it matters, yall make sound like he sold some amps and skipped town. He also owns a Pizza place and a Plumbers Supply. :roflmao:
