Dave Funk AWOL???

A year....?? I don’t think I should complain then.. it’s only been 5 months to change out noisy pots and give it a checkup.. but still haven’t received it after numerous e mails.. if he doesn’t want the work, give us a heads up and I can send it somewhere else.. my 3 cents..

Sounds like Dave Funk has been taking business classes from Dr. Bass.

More than a few weeks for any amp repair is ridiculous. Not sure what your situation is, but when I think about a working bass player who made there living playing, could you imagine having one of your main tools out of commission for 5 months. Crazy.

Also remember that - and part of the selling point advertised on the website - the TFB is designed so that any decent tech should be able to diagnose and make repairs.

Based on my experience, and what I’m seeing on here, I would advise people to buy used and find a good local tech.

Good luck getting your amp back.

I’m in month 14 of waiting for my new amp. I’m pretty sure it’s the last one he will ever make. He answers emails most of the time but cryptically. Mine is ‘on the bench.’

And by the way, I'm not certain that "Dave Funk" is his real name. I bought a couple of amps off of him shortly after he started Thunderfunk and I remember writing a check to a different name and also, if memory serves me correctly, sending my PayPal payment to a name other than Dave Funk. When I asked Dave about it, there was a long pause and he then had some story (that sounded like he was making up on the fly) about that name being his partner and/or treasurer....

It's certainly possible that Dave Funk is his real name, but it didn't feel that way to me back then... Somebody with Dun and Bradstreet or ZoomInfo access (or the like) could prob look it up....

Dave Funk is not his real name. It's Robert(Bob) Gunnison.

My backup has been my good old Eden 400... and it hasn’t given me any problems at all.

I never had a problem with mailing my amp to Thunderfunk, Dave or Robert. I had a problem with my 550B and I got it back in about2 weeks after I sent it. I also had it updated and it was also returned quickly. He always returned my emails. I don't understand those who are having problems. Sometimes everyone gets tied up and maybe it was no fault of their own.

Was this recently?

Seems like 5 months on a repair or 14 months for a new amp is a little beyond getting tied up.

No it was not recent. I feel bad for you. Its just hard for me to understand cause in the past he had a great turnaround time for all his customers at least what I thought. You may want to contact better business bureau maybe thy have information regarding this issue. I hope his health is OK.

His email is no longer functioning which was [email protected]. The web page has been suspended. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed].

Not a good sign. I don’t even know how to get a hold of him to get a status on my amp.

I’ve made a charitable donation it seems.
